Porcupine tree isn't really metal they're more progressive rock, don't know what you were thinking. First concert I went to was porcupine tree though so i agree they're awesome.

Personally I like Gamma Ray, Helloween, Blind Guardian, Iron Maiden, Avantasia, Edguy, pretty much any other power metal/speed metal except dragonforce. Also like most traditional heavy metal bands ie Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, etc.

Well it depends what you see as Metal ....lots of the 'youglings' put death and stuff like that under metal while for me its nothing but plain noise .

i draw the line with Slayer

So here my all time 10 favorite album/records:

1 Annihilator - never never land
2 Slayer - Reign in Blood (only for the music!!)
    3 Dio - Holy Diver
    4 AC/DC -powerage
5 Metallica - Master of puppets
6 Pantera - Cowboys from Hell
7 Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind
8 Machine Head - The Blackening
9 Exodus - Tempo of the damned
10 Dokken -Under lock and Key (not quite metal but i love it)

I had forgotten about these guys for the longest time. Groove metal for the fucking win!

Had to go listen to some of their stuff. Rational Gaze is a great song.

EDIT: Bleed kicks it's ass, though.

Top 5 Metal Bands (In no order, cause I don't think much about this...I mostly listen to Japanese Rock)

GWAR, Slayer, Rammstein, Megadeth & Iron Maiden.

I really need to start listening to more Metal!

Allow me to start you off with a few bands...

    Lamb of God
    Dark Tranquillity
    (Old) Mudvayne
    Kamelot

That's just a little bit. I tried to get a pretty good variance in those, so listen to all of them.

Did anyone go to Paganfest? That Folkish sound that bands like Moonsorrow, Eluveitie, and Finntroll have is always a win.
