That is funny you calling him plebian. Take it from some one who studies evolution, there are many things it can not explain. I am not going to go around advertising creationism (I don't support it) but as a theory evolution is very weak. For a theory to be strong it needs to be accurate most of the time. Half the time scientist are scratching their heads and making up new rules that contradict others. Evolution as a process is very well defined and understood. As a theory not so much.

Through out Earth's history carbon fluctuated far more then anything we observing now. This is nothing out of the ordinary. Many of these so called scientists became scientists when this global crazy just begun. It is being fueled half by political propaganda and the other half by idiots seeking grants.

In any case you are a drone.

Oh really? I have an Honours degree and PhD in biochemistry so tell me, specifically, and using the proper scientific terms, what evolution cannot explain, because you sir, are full of SHIT. there are some things we don't know for sure, but little we can't explain, and they are all minor and very specific. the origin of life -- as in the transition from inanimate chemicals to a self-sustaining system that could be caled 'life' is the least understood part -- there are only theories -- but this predates evolution per se.

It's obvious you are not a scientist and have no real science training, and are simply talking out your arse, which is all you anti-science religious lemmings ever do. if you don't agree with science, turn off your computer, burn your house and go live in the bush and take your book of fairy-tales with you.

He's not the only one putting forth this information. And you miss the point that scientists are no where near accurate in theories as complex as global climate change. I personally am going with the great big huge fucking ball of fire in the sky having the most to do with our warming and cooling.
i'm saying el nino/nina are independent of global warming. read the goddamn report, it explains all this. if it's too long for you, try the wikipedia entry for a shorter and gentler summary.

i'm not going to disagree that man-made global warming is difficult to quantify and observe, but there is a clear consensus amongst scientists who are specialists in this area and scientists don't throw their weight behind issues so strongly unless the data is very strong.

to be clear: global warming is definite. the uncertainty is whether -- or how much -- is man-induced. noone is sure if we can reverse it either.

First link: Biden was, in his words, being "chivalrous" because he was responding to a questioner who was ranking on Clinton.

Second link: Attack ads are a reliable source of information. /snark
If you're going to quote someone, quote his latest statements. If you wanted to quote McCain from five months ago you'd find out he is against Bush's tax cuts, against offshore drilling, for Bush's immigration reform (or is he against? It's hard to keep up), against torture OR for torture, in violation of McCain-Feingold and more.

Maybe try to keep up with the reality today?

There was a clear consensus at one point amoung scientists that if you sailed too far east you'd fall off the edge of the world.

There was a clear consensus at on point amoung scientists that the earth was the center of the universe.

There was a clear consensus that a hole in the ozone was going to allow the air to escape and we would all freeze to death

    They were all wrong.

And you are wrong about what scientists will do for grant money and political motivations.

I am not saying there isnt man-made global warming. All one has to do is go to civilized areas and see the amount of concrete that emits heat waves to know that we have an effect. Is it catastrophic? nah...dont think so...is it damaging to the immediate surrounding locales...most definately. Is the US driving SUVs gonna drastically change anythying? not one iota. So, it's all politically motivated agenda...not a genuine concern for the planet.

Al Gore, had a minteral mine on his fmaily proptery for years that polluted the surrounding country side. His solution is carbon credits...a fee you pay to some comapny that magically erases your carbon footprint...did I mention he is a part owner of said company? If there was genuine concern, they would be going after coal plants and be all for nuclear energy, possibly the cleanest alternative that is feasible. You jettison the waste into outerspace and all done.

No, man made global warming is simply another ploy to control the populace at large, just like religion.

Wrong. Those discoveries were what precipitated the scientific revolution, not to mention that those things were hundreds of years ago.

There was a clear consensus that a hole in the ozone was going to allow the air to escape and we would all freeze to death
Link or it isn't true. Note the difference between speculation, and consensus based on evidence. people speculate there may be life elsewhere in the universe, but there is no definite evidence for or against.

And you are wrong about what scientists will do for grant money and political motivations.
I *am* a scientist and i do receive grant money. There is no conspiracy. Grants are extremely competitive and plenty of good and worthwhile applications get rejected all the time. You've basically got no chance unless you've got a good publication record in good journals, have written a well-researched proposal that demonstrates extensive knowledge and appreciation of extant research on the area, and your proposal fits into one of the current 'priority areas' of the funding body to which you're applying.

every grant submitted is reviewed by a panel of senior scientists in multiple rounds. there is also due diligence reports you're required to write and hardcore ethical regulations to demonstrate compliance with if your research does anything with living animals or tissues. it's no joke man and the fucking things take weeks and are as tedious as shit.

trust me when i say that flippant research proposals do not make it past the first round of review.

lastly, scentists rarely get involved with politics. global warming affects us all, which is why consortia like the IPCC have been formed for the explicit intent to collate and summarise the data so that decision-makers remain informed.

the idea that global warming is a myth only exists in the US, because - sadly - you guys tolerate and swallow religion-motivated FUD more than any other country, eg: the US is the only country in the world who haven't ratified the kyoto protocol. why? because Bush is an idiot.
