I just built mine It's a pretty gratifying experience for the first time builder, I must say. The only advice I can offer is to pick the CPU, then get a motherboard that fits that CPU AND supports the type of hardware you want, then get the hardware that you're mobo supports.

for processor id go with either Q6600 quad core, or E6600 dual core. Both pretty much the most bang for ur buck, and trust me, its alot of bang. The E6600 is a "little" better for games nowadays but is not as futureproof as the Q6600, Also the Q6600 is futureproof and is damn good at gaming as well plus it is good for deskop/media and downloads. Also just a tidbit about the Q6600, on official benchmarks it was comparable by just 1 second to the Quad core Xtreme, which is a $1000+ dollar processor. as far as motherboards, i picked up the ASUS P5ND, its one of the highend ATX asus motherboards and is very good for overclocking, and like i said, its also a good price. As far as graphics cards go, don't get anything under the 8000 series because you can easily get a good 8800gt or even gts/gtx within the 100-200 price range. Although I would recomend the 9800gtx or 9800GX2 which is a single GPU but it is basically 2 9800gtx's in one. Lastly, get a good cheap 600-620 watt PSU which can usually be found around the 100 dollar range, and trust me, 600watts is enough to run (SLI) if you really wanted to. ALSO, make sure your motherboard fits your processor, if you are going AMD, make sure to get a AM2 socket motherboard, if you are getting a intel processor like the ones i recomended, you will need a LGA 775 socket. As far as a "Computer case" MAKE SURE that it supports "ATX motherboards" as ATX motherboards are about 12 inches long and need proper spacing to support them, most custom cases, mid-tower and full-tower, will tell you if they support ATX motherboard! I wish you luck building a screaming hot computer, the components i have listed will get you a computer that is more than enough for darkfall and within the 1000 dollar price range, i dont know exactly what it would be, but estimated around $900-1200. For finding these parts, I would recomend www.tigerdirect.com or www.newegg.com Both are very reputable hardware selling companys and it is how i built my rig. Enjoy your comp!

See my thread, since I have the same budget: http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=64169

You can bump down the gfx card to a 4850 in order to pick up a hard drive. If you're going to cannibalize your old system you may not need a cd/dvd driver either. You can also get 4GB of RAM instead, if you wanted to stay with XP or get vista 32-bit.

Just built a comp. About $620 minus the uber case I got for free. It can run pretty much any game out there on highest settings.

Here's a copy of my invoice. NewEgg.com is absolutely the best place to order parts and even full computers from. http://byopc.net will give you some ideas too, if you don't like my setup.

Not rechecking thread, PM me if you go along with my build or anything, heheh.
