    Default Streaming Q&A on Roles - Post your questions here

    We saw that you have a lot of questions on our new Custom Roles System and you want to know every intricate detail before we implement it to Darkfall Unholy Wars.

    So, we decided to host a streaming Q&A session with our developers, where they will answer as many questions as humanly possible (we don't want to affect their time-schedule too much).

    What we would like from you, is to post your questions here, on this thread. The developers will pick the most popular questions and start from there. You have one week before I close the thread.

    The streaming Q&A session's specific broadcast time will be announced next week.

    Do we still have to buy the school skills (Stampede, vampire strike, barrage) with our prowess or are they all available from the start?

    Seems like a bigger grind for me to test different play styles if I have to spend 54k pp on skills! Changing this to gold would be better!

    Will the current 'power level' of a character go up, down, or stay the same with this change.

    IE: Will fireball from someone with 140 INT, leenspar staff, and full light armor (+dmg) hit for the same amount as fireball does today from an Elem with leen and 140 INT? Or will it hit for more/less?

    what about PP in craft skills - we will get back adventure/skill PP to buy/skill the schools again but not craft mastery PP or? hope there will be no bugs after patch.

    Are you going to change or limit movement skills? That is, will you make it impossible to use Evade+Leap+Dash+Stampede+Attunement to Air etc. on the same character, implement cooldowns, or just let people choose the abilities they want, without limits?

    What if anything is being done about time to kill? at the moment it is simply too short. The vast amounts of aoes (only to be exacerbated by this role system) combined with weak transfers and the situation with squishy armor against squishy armor serve to make movement (the most important aspect of darkfall) diminished in its ability to separate the good from the bad and help protect against a simple dps race some of these armor types find themselves in when fighting each other.

    And what about skills that are rarely used nowadays like eg roar and other skills that will be relatively uninteresting when people can choose from a much higher pool of skills. Any details on adjustments?

    Any chance you will be reworking movement ? It feels clunky and most people would agree that your character seems like walking on ice. Combat requires responsive movement without any delays to be fun.

    Will we need to choose a school to be "primary" as now (not role, I mean just school, I know that role will be gone)?

    If yes, this school will improve its skills (reduces cooldown)?

    It looks reasonable, a specialist need to be better than a generalist IMO, so a player that choose duelist as your primary school (for instance) need to be better with duelist skills than other that just choose a skill randomly of this school.

    1. Will opposite school lockouts still apply (e.g. can't have fire and water spells at the same time)?

    (I hope so -- more tradeoffs make it more interesting)

    2. What are you going to do about the inevitable situation where practically everyone has ranged gank and rez?

    (move ranged gank to the ultimate slot for the pain school, and scale stats on rez very aggressively with skill/wisdom/staff level, I hope)

    3. Are you still going to release the new schools, and if so, will you release them all at once, or one spell at a time?

    (hopefully one or two skills at a time, I hope, since there's no need for the schools to be complete when released, and see my comment about soul flay >> pain)

    I just mainly want to know if we will have to wait weeks/months for skills to be balanced, Pulverise + Stampede combos in the current meta of everyone being warrior makes playing elementalist+primalist very hard compared to playing a warrior. this has been going on for a long time and could of received some tweaks but hasn't, why should we believe you can balance this new system in a timely fashion.

    I don't know all that many Primalists who have a problem with Stamp/Pulv.

    Eles are definitely gimped, but that's a problem with Eles, not Warriors.

    The new system is self-balancing, because you will be able to choose whatever skills you want.

    Q1) Can we expect some kind of prowess planner on the website or in-game? For attributes, skills, abilities etc.

    Q2) Will you implement a more detailed skill description? Something that displays the amount of damage, cooldown, costs and the calculations?
