Any of you checked out that 3D simulation you can access? Its like Google maps, but for bodies in space - planets, Sattelites.... Its amazing..
At first I was like... Oh... cool.. I can zoom in and out of some stuff...
But I started to click to Earth... I was thinking "cool, thats us, thats our entire existence.. everything good and bad" And then I started to click to the various orbiting bodies, the ISS etc, different satellites.. I started to appreciate our achievements.
All the while I was doing this, I had the live stream in the other tab, listening to "copy that.... nasa space talk, herpa derpa.. roger, over and out" in the background @ http://www.livestream.com/spaceflightnow
So anyway... I continued to click on all these other objects.. The planets, ofcourse, their moons, but even beyond that.. The Stereo A and B (ahead and behind) satellites, which sole purpose is to watch the sun from each angle... Even more... Both Voyager satellites, which are sent out into the farthest reaches of space until we can no longer contact them..
Its amazing when you use the simulation program and start to understand the ridiculous size of our solar system, and ultimately the universe... but then ... after ALLLLL of that, you need to double click on Earth and zoom back in to where you live... and you're like... fuck.... WTF....
Its just amazing but at the same time, its depressing, knowing how so many of us are 100% fucking DUMB, with shit like racism and meaningless hate... So hell bent on competing with other humans over something that is so beneath everything thats ultimately vastly more important.
Its mind blowing to think about... Just how absolutely amazing we can be, yet at the very same time, how fucking ridiculously pathetic and worthlessly undeserving we can be at the same fucking time.
