I read about 3/4 and then gave up because I was bored. The writing and descriptions were good enough for me to read, just not my kind of story. I felt there wasn't much of a build up of any of the characters to really feel anything when reading through it. I didn't care one way or another about what was happening to the characters because I didn't know them yet and the story just sort of dove straight into the deep end.

Thanks for your feedback, I need to think about a better opening to the story.

It's not even necessarily the opening, some people enjoy a book which just gets stuck straight in. But you could definitely pace it out a little more and feed a little more information to the reader, I found it harder trying to relate to the overall world since I knew nothing of it really, timeline as well.

take it down now, you will never get anything published if it is or was accessible on the internet. There are some really good writers websites out there use those.

Orson scott card has a writers forum which is pretty good.

This website is also good but requires you edit other peoples work on a consistent basis. You have to be pretty serious to do it.

Okay, it's down. I really wasn't sure whether it was a good idea to go public with it, hence posting only the first chapter, but what you said has convinced me to keep it under wraps. Thanks for the heads up.

Plus, this forum isn't the best place to trial your work. For every constructive comment like Rigan Pere's you'll get 15 trolls.

Just send a copy to a few trustworthy and honest people whose opinions you respect.

That's what I did, and that's why I stopped writing when I was 20 years old (I wasn't very good).
