What if I do see it, but what if I just tell my child it's next to him/her? Am I delusional for starting it, but the child is _not_ delusional because they were simply told it? If so, wouldn't that mean the first religious person was delusional?
Your either trolling or just a massive idiot. People who are actually mentally ill and have real "delusions" have many other symptoms attached. Its completely obvious someone who has real "delusions"

If you cant see the difference between believing in the philosphical concept of a deity, and a massive invisible gorrila, then there is no hope for you. There was no first religious man, many people have their first experience of a "higher" being through psycadellic use or near death experiences, even meditation for months at a time. And then some use it as a philosophical reason for the universe and a purpose for their life (Our founding fathers). Don't confuse the common dogmatic form of God as a template for any form of higher 'being'

If you feel better about your delusion by calling me a massive idiot, by all means.

I think calling it a delusion might be a little off, I think it depends on the person, I do agree that if a person has said they seen god or hear god then they're delusional. But some people just wanna believe to feel comfortable, and they admit they've never seen or heard a deity, it's still irrational though, just like Deism. I bet if the founding fathers were alive today, a good amount of them would have no issue being atheist.

perception is reality, but is reality, reality?

i once tripped on salvia (i don't recommend this), i experienced something i've come to learn as 'ego death'. i watched my self die, i watched my self twist from my finger tips to my feet. i felt every bit of sensation with an INTENSE MAGNITUDE through my body(constant body feelings during whole trip). i watched our world, our earth, our dimension as we know it, my view zoomed out to the point where our dimension was just a window in a never ending sky scraper(so it seemed) and all other windows were other dimensions, then suddenly i got a terrible feeling in my stomach, i knew the ending of all things were near. it appeared to me that this sky scraper was being crushed, from the top to the bottom.. and we were only a few stories from the great hammer pounding down.

long story short, our dimension was soon crushed. i faded into blackness, i awoke slowly(came out of the trip) and our reality unraveled(slowly things in the room appeared as what they really were). my heart was racing, like i've never experienced before.

    i questioned our own reality.
it felt like i lived a whole life time in the 5-7 minute hallucination i had.

schizophrenia has been in our family for decades, i can't imagine the daily life of those people.

lol the point i was going to make was lost, don't have time right now, but it's these people having the real experiences like i had pushing them onto other people willing to attempt to have them(for many reasons - hope being biggest), we call this faith(delusional).

You assume they are delusional based on your own life experience. Technically it is impossible to prove if it's some celestial being or a psychological disorder talking to them in their heads. We just assume it is the latter.

Cool. Whenever I dream about dying I too fade into black unconsciousness. I hate days after those dreams. Feel like a zombie.

So we come from the universe which came from nothing..

    or...

We come from a god... which came from nothing...

    Therefore, nothing is the something

What is your drive, kido? Why do you choose to rise every day to go to work, feed and bathe your body, and not simply sit there and die? And before you attempt to troll, answers like "because I enjoy working" will not do it.

You know too little of yourself. Reason without faith (and I did not mean the "Jesus" kind of faith) cannot exist. Because the kind of reason that has all the answers does not exist either.

My drive is existence. I enjoy existing; it's awesome to exist. I do what I do to make my existence better, more fun, more interesting, and to spend more time with my wife.

    Where's my faith?

Probably cause it's fun to live, derp.

I never understood that silly argument "Why live when there's no afterlife?"

there is good an evil. not on a religious sense but a universe sense.

If anyone has shared an acid/deep mushroom trip with others around, you will experience unexplainable things with certain people thats too real to be a trip, it opens your mind. its some wierd shit, i've seen things that i cannot explain. im not THAT crazy either.

Great. Another acid/mushroom guy who thinks because his brain is incredible and shows strange visions and feels weird then it means there's more to the universe than just material.

First off there are qualifications that have to be filled for someone to be seen as delusional. Believing in a after life or a God does not fill those qualifications.

Second Freud is meh. Anyone that quotes Freud but then goes on to diss religion is extremely shortsighted. Freuds thoughts on the human psyche are the same as religion and God. They're mostly unverifiable. So I find that hilarious. Also Jung is much more interesting and open minded.

    ANd finally, this thread sucks.

Freud was mentioned along with a disclaimer of criticism of him in general. It wasn't a "Freud said it so it must be true!".

Great another mindless drone who puts little to no importance on intuition and imagination while also believing his perspective must be shared by everyone.

The average person doesn't have the ability to see outside of what they've been told life is. We need to learn, as a society, to appreciate rare personality types that question, think and reexamine.
