Game of Thrones is by far the best series ive watched in a long time!
Havent read the books yet but from my experience, books are ALWAYS.. AAALLLWAAAYS better than their adaptations. They contain more and most of the content comes from your own imagination with regards feeling it and seeing it after reading descriptive text.
The TV show is fantastic and since I've put reading the books off, I dont find myself grappling with the show and books in contrast to each other or anything. It is going fine. I fucking love the characters, they're brilliant in their own ways, they really are.
Going to suffer some serious withdrawl symptoms after this series.
I was actually impressed by how little it was, normally a full American series goes for around £40 - £50. I managed to pick it up on Amazon for half of that.
I hate to break it to ya, but there are tons more stories to be told and that need to be wrapped up, but with the way he writes and the time it takes I wouldn't expect too many more to be told by him.
I think GRRM is a bit tired of writing these characters and stories. Which is why it has taken so long between books, while at the same time he has written other books for other series. At the rate he writes with books I'd be surprised if he finishes the 6th book by the time the 5th season is on HBO. I think most new comers to the series don't realize how long it takes him to write.

.. im not much of a reader myself, but i got my hands on audiobooks with actors, sound background, and i must admit it blows my mind.
Also tv show is amazing ... fukin crack on tv screen.
This, Spartacus, and Walking dead so far was the best tv shows i watched. ( the newest one i mean... im not counting Sopranos,The Wire and rest of the classics)

I think they've said already that book 3 will be split into 2 seasons as it's the longest and most eventful of the series.
They'll be able to save us the boring shit that is the 4th book by interweaving it with book 5, which is nice. I wouldn't be shocked to see 3 seasons come from those two together - book 5 was almost as big as book 3.
As far as the remaining books go, I'm pretty sure GRRM said he's given the plot outline to the writers of the show in case something happens to him before the series is finished. So long as HBO doesn't cancel the show, they'll have content. It'd be weird to see the show extend beyond the books though.
Lazy fucks are missing out on a much better story by watching the TV show and not reading the books. The books are infinitely better, even though I do think they are doing well with the TV show.
