    Oh really?

    United States

All Lottery winnings are subject to Federal and potentially State income taxes. The IRS requires at least a 25% withholding of any gambling wins in excess of $5000. However, the take home pay for a large jackpot winner is often misleading. Winners often find themselves in a tax bracket much greater than 25% and have to pay any remaining balance owed to the IRS later when they file their returns. All lump sum prizes below are reported as the pre-tax amount, as this is the income the player earned and must report on their returns to be subject to taxation. Jackpot amounts are reported as the full annuity payout that would result if the player elected to have their winnings paid over time.
    Europe

Unlike in the United States, where lottery wins are taxed, and the full winnings are paid by an annuity over a period of many years or a reduced lump-sum amount is offered, European jackpots are generally tax-free (the lotteries themselves are taxed in other ways) and the winning jackpot is paid out immediately in one lump sum.
    Oh and...

As of 6th July 2011, the jackpot has continued to rollover. It now currently stands at £166 million ($266 million).

This has been won by one UK winner on Tuesday 12th July. It has not yet been confirmed whether this was a single winner or a syndicate and the prize was £161,653,000 (€185,000,000) which has set a new world record for a tax-free, lump sum prize

Neighbours described their only hobby as ‘takeaways’ with their favourite being the town’s Fish and Chicken Bar.

‘They own several properties that they let out on the isle. I think these are flats in tenements and it gave them a good income. Maybe they will go into the property game again.’

    That's 262 million USD.

Interest per year at a very easy and safe 3% = 7,876,560$.

    That's 21,564.86$ per day.

    Yummy.
