Default Witcher 2 is my processor just outdated?

OK I'm pretty positive my 460 GTX isn't the problem, that should be able to run Witcher 2 fine right?

I have an AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ 2.9 speed

    and 4gigs of ram

I have to run it at lowest settings and even then it isn't the smoothest (it's fine though, I'd guess 40ish fps)

Shouldn't a 460 GTX be able to run at least medium settings?

Is the processor outdated or is the ram outdated? Sort of old comp

Don't see anything wrong with those specs... Very strange.

As Ausei said you have an old PC maybe try and defrag.

If devs these days would care about gameplay, it would run on a 5 year old comp.

depends on setetings but the cpu does start to be a bit old. It shouldnt be a problem for medium settings though. what resolution do you use?

    1280x1024

    Maybe I'll try 1024x768??

Also, earlier, I tried it after defragging, and activating Gamebooster, and FPS was totally fine.. except.. during random times it suddenly gets really bad fps for 10 to 15 seconds then returns to normal... Maybe card is overheating a little? Even though it has 2 damn fans...

    Oh fuck.......

I just hopped into Minecraft and after a while I started getting 14 fps for about 10 seconds, every minute or so, and right when that was happening I checked the gpu temperature and it's perfectly fine (45 C) So it's NOT a temp issue, video card going bad, or driver issue maybe edit: drivers up to date

Specs don't sounds like the problem...
    Maybe try defragging your HD?
    Check those video drivers?
Run some antivirus software to see if you have a virus.

Of course your GPU temp is fine when you run at 14fps, jeez....

Most likely your graphics card retreated into a failsafe state after crashing. Happens with my gtx 470 if i overclock too much. It clocks down and requires a reboot to get it back to normal.

Reboot your PC, and then check again your temps while playing a demanding game, given that your graphics card shows the right fps.

It is entirely possible that it is overheating or it was just some little driver hiccup.

Similar problem here. i5 something, 5500 something, 4gb ram. I can't even run it on full resolution, because the game doesn't seem to support widescreen. Even with pretty low settings I get like 20 fps. Boring dialogues and his pussy haircut did the rest, so I uninstalled. Maybe the game just sucks?

    dead hard drive?

you can play minecraft with a voodoo 3... I'd think he's either using a hacked version of windows 7 and installed updates or his hard drive is giving him crc errors all the time.
