Lords of the Dead
This past week has been one of the most exciting and fun weeks I’ve ever spent in an MMO in my past fifteen years of gaming and leading. Sieges are lighting up all over the map. It seems there's been a siege or several every single night after months of inactivity. Eight sieges a few nights ago then the huge force the other night was amazing. Thank you for the huge party, that was hilarious as fuck watching everyone ally up like that. Enya tried to bring in the Bud Light and snacks to Spear Waters for everyone, but you fucks killed her over and over. LotD had a blast and we were laughing our asses off most of the night. I know, personally, I had cramps from laughing so hard at times.
While most of the server was split between Bladethorpe and Spear Waters, we had a bunch of War Hulks out destroying shit and moving right along. Sorry we came kinda late to the party but we had a bunch of other things to take care of. CotP and some Ruby forces helped secure Ul’Hamra on Ruby, Grief secured Alberworth, Section 8 took Izland, and Undead Army put their name over Serruk. We simply could not be all places at once with the transfers going on. We expected and expect more interference as we finalize things. As is human nature, some like to seize easier opportunities and take advantage of a situation.
Seeing the opposition at the duel siege, both Zealot and Turtles, contacted me. I was first approached to hire help, but I declined seeing the system messages. It would have been silly. I was then told they were approached to be hired by the opposition even after all the ally messages. I told them to take the money and up the price but they declined they told me. It was a pleasure finally paying Lokius and Zealot for the first time in seven months to fight along side us the night before at the solo Spear Waters siege. We slaughtered and drove away a huge force. As you all know, some Cairn and Ruby clans have hired them in the past but that was the first time LotD actually paid them to fight along side us in battle. Being the stand up guys they are, I think they declined being added to the huge force, which didn’t surprise me. Much respect to both Turtles and Zealot and to those who didn’t follow. I think one of the reasons Cairn has held strong for so long is because we did a great job of picking and choosing our fights, friends, enemies, clans, and leadership.
As far as BkS not joining the party, I’d say Lokius Darkwind is probably the leader in Darkfall that I respect the most that is still playing. LotD and BkS have been going strong since launch, through many changes. Black Shields & LotD seem to always keep the health of the game in mind and know that completely destroying the enemy is not the smart move in the end. It sounds good on paper, but doesn’t go well in games like DF. Rhade, Clymene, Lokius, along with the NEW Counselors and others, have also done an exceptional job keeping NEW running strong. I wanted to acquire another holding for NEW somewhere soon, give up Khosgar, but spoke to NEW leadership and they thought it better to have their efforts centralized in Hammerdale.
I couldn’t have planned the Blade/Spear night better myself even if I contacted every leader on the server and worked out all the fine details. The only thing I was concerned about was that all of you would hit Izland and hold it down to prevent the transfer. A good force did come down to Cairn after the sieges ended, took control of Izland for a bit but left as a small band of LotD snuck in and pulled out cannons to take the stone. It was hilarious, we were saying let’s spread out on the walls of Iz and make it look like we have more numbers then we did. The siege forces hit both Dayar and Serruk as we held strong on the Iz stone and laughed uncontrollably. Then the Cairn forces that had made it to Cairn, rallied and drove them off the island.
Congrats to Covenant of the Phoenix on your new home on Ruby, I’m sure your leadership skills and structure over there will be vital and I’m sure you’ll love Ul’Hamra (the Hummer). I’ll miss ya Vessa and hope everything works out for the best. Same with Dragon Heed and crew, much respect for hanging in there man and fighting to the end, fuck what ppl here say, you guys fought like warriors. I saw it. Also grats to Grief for securing Alberworth and using it to help you move along with your plans. LotD really had a blast killing with you guys. Also grats to the Undead Army for putting your name on Cairn and stepping up to help lead the alliance whatever you guys decide to call it. As far as Sinister, well you guys were the left hand and LotD the right on NA-1 for the longest. We kicked ass on NA-1 and were part of what most consider the strongest and most influencial alliance for a long time. We held the most holding and unified territory for the longest period to date in Darkfall History that I'm aware of (correct me if I'm wrong). They can never take that away from us. We also did our best to reorganize and reform the alliance to hold strong and I think we've been as fair as possible to all involved. The new leadership of Cairn Island is a solid leadership team and I expect them to do well.
It’s been a great seven months on NA-1 and a pleasure working with almost everyone on the server. For those that know Queen Enya and me, we’ll miss dealing with you all like we have been; it’s been everything we could have hoped for. Enya (LotD AGM), Niir (PvP Leader), and myself have decided to step down from leadership and have the LotD Darkfall Chapter go "Unofficial". In LotD, for the chapter (game) to be “Official” you need to have an active Elder, like myself, in charge. Regretfully I will not be able to continue to put the needed effort into leading LotD or the Cairnivores in DF. I’ve decided that I will be coaching my daughter’s softball team instead of leading like I have in DF. We had the draft Wednesday night and since the other coaches got all the good players, it looks like I’ll need to migrate my skills to the real world (Bad News Bears). I signed up to assist and they roped me into being the Coach alone. For the next few months, I will be spending most of my evenings helping. I'm sure everyone can understand that Daughter > Darkfall. Enya, Niir, & I will still be playing but not putting the effort we have into DF. Part of my decision is based on the fact they're tired too and want a change. We ninja transfered Dayar to Undead Army after server up this morning and ninja transfered Khosgar under a different tag (Guerrilla Warfare). I desolved LotD and the new leads will be inviting members who want to follow them and their ideas. Massium LotD, a Lord in LotD, will be running the efforts with help from several others you may or may not know. We're not planning on allying anyone right now that I'm aware of and have no plans to fuck with our friends. Who knows, in a few months, when coaching my kids team is over, we may go official again.
As far as the Cairnivore alliance, after the core transfers we've done so far, I feel comfortable leaving the alliance in the hands of Sinister, Undead Army, Dominion, Section 8, The Tenth, Lost Minions, TFK and any others interested in living in the area and working with these clans. L-C (Expendable Hero), Undead UDA, Chuck Norris, Weaponsx, Email Virus, Krush, Dest Locke & Fspy are all good leaders and I have complete faith in them to keep things moving along on their own. Just contact any of them as needed. In a way, us leaving should bring some heat off of them during this transitional period and rebuilding process.
As far as Lords of the Dead in Darkfall, we will be going unofficial. That means our members won’t be kicked out of LotD forever for joining other clans like if we were official. Feel free to recruit away. We had a big guild meeting and after I told the members, we all decided to focus more on pure PvP and less on the other stuff.
Thanks for the memories everyone. It’s been an honor to have had an impact on this great game and hopefully help it survive. I look forward to watching how things turn out and will continue to help on some level, hopefully, with the NEW initiative.
