Multiple alliances, including Cairnavores and Zealot have agreed to start something for the NEW players of Darfall: Creatively, the clan "NEW."

Today, Cairn and Zealot reached an agreement, after a few days of talking, and we have agreed to put political differences aside to make NEW a reality. NEW will be buying Hammerdale from Imperil today, peacefully.

The idea of NEW has been brought to Shadow Pact's attention as well, and some of their leaders have found it to be an agreeable idea. I look forward to them confirming their place among those who have agreed to fully support it. I ask any and all clan/alliance leaders to get in touch with "New Supremegeneral", myself, Saurcon LotD or Fury Mortis to get details and offer support. For this to truly work, all alliances need to set political differences aside and agree to honor NEW, it's aspirations and it's guidelines.

No one wants an empty server.
Let's help these NEW players out.

The concept of NEW is a cavalier and good one, you can find more about NEW here at it's website.

I, however, will give a quick rundown of what NEW is and what it is not.

NEW is:

• A place for new players to congregate, learn how to play Darkfall, it's controls, it's intricacies; a chance to "get their feet under them."
• A safe haven offered to new players for 30 days; after which point, they will be kindly asked to go their own way, whether it be to a clan they feel they will match up well with, or the hard life of a solo player, it's up to them.
• Somewhere people can go for guidance, learning how to become better at crafting, PvP, PvE, or any aspect of the game.
• Something that will, hopefully, make newer players stick around and give Darkfall a chance, instead of getting killed a few times at goblin spawns and leaving Darkfall because the learning curve is too steep.

NEW is not:

• A political entity to be used for anyone's gain.
• An entity in which players will be allowed to stay for more than 30 days.

We're asking all alliance leaders to come together and agree on certain terms regarding NEW. One of these "terms" currently in talks is safe-guarding these new players from random PK groups, and setting regulations on where hostilities are and aren't allowed in NEW's city of Hammerdale. We encourage alliance leaders to get in touch with the aforementioned names to get on board with the co-operation and enforcement of what we hope is something to help Darkfall out in the long term.

Excellent idea. This is where sandbox games differentiate themselves from themeparks. I think more important than a safe haven it will give new players a chance to meet with others at their own level and build friendships in game. Social interaction is the #1 draw to MMO's afterall.

This has been a really successful tool on the Siege Perilous shard in UO (ruleset identical to Darkfalls) for 9+ years now.

VAMP supports and will actively defend NEW against siege/asset destruction post-transfers, i speak for no NA alliances just my clan

I had a few questions in regards to this clan:


1) How to you plan to spread public awareness of this public service to those who do not actively follow the forums?
2) Does the assistance of this clan's aid extend far beyond the Hammerdale region or are the new players expected to relocate to the city to receive full benefit? Does the assistance for example extend to players in starter towns in other lands like Morak, Dvergheim, or Tribelands?
3) Do the new players have to be IN the clan NEW to receive the assistance?
4) Is Hammerdale to be considered a Freehold type holding where all clans with no hostile intentions may come for trade or use of the city's services, provided all visitors abide by the code of conduct set forth by NEW?
5) What services will NEW NOT be offering to new players?

Hostilities within city limits, for the most part, aren't going to be acceptable.
They need some safe place to have a chance to learn.
It's better we give them that place, than have them rely on towers.
