There's a lot of information that is simply wrong in that review, and I'm not even talking about opinions.

I believe the System Messages say it the best: "Welcome to Darkfall"!

While he got some points, there are so many factual errors in that review that you wonder if he played the game longer than an hour.

You see, everything in Darkfall is based on attrition. You slowly but surely gain stats in everything as you do it, ranging from running to wood-chopping to sword-fighting to spell-casting. This sounds as if it would make for an incredibly individual and adaptable experience, but the lacklustre presentation of the game melds with the tortoise-slow skill-up speed to make the experience quintessentially painful. Not even old-school EverQuest - which was actually graphically superior- felt quite as stiflingly slow and ponderous in its levelling curve.
100 % agree.

For the most part, your first ten or so hours in Darkfall are spent dying, repeatedly, at the hands of either the AI or a cyber-bully in a wolf-suit. In fact, past that mark, it feels impossible to avoid the clammy hands and bloodied sword of somebody who has specially allocated part of their day to griefing.

QQ more please.

That's because the object of the game isn't to level your skills. You just feel the need to because it's a goal you can set and attain.

If you agree with that guy then you would not be here.. so I think maybe you wish the game was different but you don't 100% agree with him.. and I bet you are still playing because the PVP is fun

Hmm
They weren't very well informed on the game. Weapon hits aren't random. It also doesn't seem like he did anything significant except die, and fight some goblins.
There is a lot more to this game.

This is pretty funny, if I didn't know better I'd think this writeup was one huge troll post, but it's actually a review.
"There are none of the intricacies of World of Warcraft or Warhammer Online"
EXACTLY DOUCHBAG
"leaving you with the choice of changing weapon (a ten-second operation - five if you're particularly nimble)"
What a retard... seriously.

Just because its not the object does not mean it doesnt ruin it. It ruins the immersion by seeing 100 macros. It ruins it that macros have a edge in battle, If you play legit you have no chance. There isnt a grind, but if you want to compete in any aspect of pvp or harder PVE you need to grind, whether it be gold or combat skills you need to. That is the problem and thats one major reason new players are quiting and old players are as well.
