"Well to be fair when you say "us" you mean you and those that agree with you. I still believe that we won't see the true kind of diversity we need for this game to survive with the specialization system coming in the expansion, but it may be a good first step. If it isn't, then we will have to have this kind of discussion again and see what can be done to save this game."

Nope, ain't going to work for me. I'm not willing to have this discussion again. I paid to play an MMORPG, not a cookie cutter FPS game. I've logged on 3 times in the past 1 1/2 months and been paying my subscription fee waiting to see what their "expansion" brings. I'm not willing to pay anymore to see if these guys can get it right.

I'll just move right along and take my monies elsewhere, and there are places to put it besides a game that offers little else than shoot-em-up magic fights, where everyone has macroed/exploited/hacked to get to be exactly the same. No content & no diversification in skills = no money from me after this.

I have more patience than most, but as you can see, not only are the servers empty, but so is ForumFail. I won't look back, and there are many many more just like me. A whole big bunch have already left, and the rest like me are taking a good long look before they slap their money down next month.

I've paid and played since launch, don't ever post, but by Gawd I'm gonna finally say what I think.

Whoever said this guy should be ignored was right on the money.
It was me too though, I suggested we just ignore his posts. Yay I can post now!

I don't think they will take this game back in the direction of meaningful character development. It was something that was cut out of the game in favor of the whole fps hybrid model thing. People want a fully developed character inside a week or two and spend the rest of the time running around shooting off nukes. Thats the crowd they developed and every move they make seems to go further and further in that direction.

I can see their point. Intriguing Character development happens over months not days. And it results in widely varying character archetypes. AC had that. AC was a great game. DF is no AC. It has some great mass combat stuff and that whole crazy rock chipping city thing going for it, but the character development in DF is really simplistic. But that seems to be what the bulk of the pvp crowd wants though. "Lets get that toon making crap out of the way in a few hours so we can get on with the light show".

I am a rpg background guy and thats why I moved on. Just like that one guy said. You need the competitive build to be competitive. I suppose if there where 10 different builds it would be too complicated. How could you answer all the "Wat build to make 4pvp"? threads.

You can have meaningful character development and be maxed in a month. MO is taking this approach hard cap with little to no grind. But you don't need to have a cap in darkfall to get what you guys "crave" - diverity. They will bring diversity to the game through specializations if you don't like that move then you should just quit now and stop asking for a hard cap.

Yeah. That pretty much sums it up. I keep holding out that they will start treating the game like an MMORPG. I am paid up for a couple of more weeks or so. This expansion is probably going to be make or break for me.

No classes to bind us.
No pre-determined skills to limit us.
Only a massive grind to keep us.

If we are all the same in the end...it will take forever. But they will always be customization in the weapons we use, the way we use them, the spells we cast and the friends we keep.

...

And it would take a rather long long long time to max everything.

As far as I am concerned we encourage ideas, debates, and discussions in general as long as they are within forum rules... and it would be nice to allow open dialog regardless of the subject.

We are also transitioning into having a subscriber-only forum, which demonstrates that feedback from those who actually play the game should be validated.

That being said, I would like to remind not only you, but also everyone else following this thread that every player is allowed to share his or her ideas without any type of harassment.

To conclude, I'd like to add that telling people to quit the game for simply sharing a genuine idea is not the best way to support your arguments.

It might not be the best way to have a debate, but the point is Claus, the head developer, says hard caps aren't in the game design or part of AV's philosophy. If someone believes this is a game breaking issue, its likely not to change.

Then you don't have to worry about it. Those who oppose it will decide for themselves.
