Sad thing is, many kids begin to smoke because it is cool or their friends do. Later it is hard for them to stop smoking if they are used to. The kids also do not care mostly about the cancer, reduction of physically abilities, creases in face or shorter life. You could tell them over and over again, they ignore it.

Another bad thing is, that you also get much of the toxin if sitting next to a smoker, so I am very happy that they now have split the rooms of smokers and no-smokers in restaurants.

It's a disgusting habit and in my view people who do are no different than drug addicts. My gf smokes and cannot stop, even whilst pregnant, which i find...well, i let her know.

I love how the majority of them are disgusted by people who smoke weed, but can't face facts how they themselves are drug addicts, smoking carbon monoxide through a paper tube. I was thinking of smoking for a few months, then quitting to just insult people really :)

Though got no issue with them, their choice, just get annoyed when it's pushed onto me, and the pub smoking ban amused me no end (Especially in winter, they will go out in all weather, there could be people shooting at them, hahaha)

I've smoked cigs for about 2 years. Started with greens.

Now, I've quit smoking cigs for about 1.5 year but smoke some real stuff about once a week. And I'm happy about it! ^^

The cannabis is the only thing actually worth smoking tbh so I'm glad I quit the rest and can control what's left.


PS: I live in Belgium and it's really so easy to go accross the border and buy it there :cool:.

Here in Birmingham, the council (which are complete idiots i'll give you that, HQ in my building) are proposing making open area's no smoking too. As in entire roads and precincts, similar to no alcohol area's. That's going to be so funny, it will be like Escape from New York, where they are fenced off into an area of the city as prisoners. Haha.

Basically, people start smoking for one of two reasons:

1) Peers do
2) Family do

If it's 1), then they just did it to become cool or look older and got hooked.

If it's 2), then unfortunately not so much their fault and a consequence of poor parenting. Parents smoking infront of children is telling them to smoke, end of story.

While I agree smoking is a bad habit and has alot of negatives it just seems to the be the social step child right now. Many other things in our society are just as negative but are never mentioned because they are not the popular conflict.

Yes, I agree that there are a lot of other equally bad or worse things in our society right now. Our society as a whole is pretty sick right now, and all these things like smoking and school shootings are just symptoms of a much deeper problem. And that problem will never become resolved if we focus all our energy on fixing these superficial issues. But it's hard to ignore these superficial issues because these are the issues which directly affect peoples lives. Smoking isn't the real problem, but the effect it has on peoples lives is real, and it's hard to just stand still and watch people harm themselves when you believe it would be so easy to help.
