View Full Version : The NEW Xbox360 vs. PS3 thread.

So I'm yet again thinking about buying a console - however this time instead of the PS3 I'm very much leaning against the Xbox, simply because it's cheaper and easier to do illegal stuff with that we won't discuss here.
I want to hear your thought on the matter. I know Villuin will still advocate the PS3, but I'd still welcome him to give me the reasons why. I'm not much of a "playing-consolegames-online" guy, btw, so that isn't much of a reason really.
Only real question that comes to mind for the Xbox360 is - Do you need a Gold Live account for buying new shit like more songs for Guitar Hero World Tour or Rock Band if I am to buy one of those?

Get an xbox 360. I have both, and it's superior if you can get over the fact that it has a high probability of dying on you. Has better RPGs and online games. The only thing that sucks is the stupid $50 garbage xbox live which every 13 year old fanboys. If playing with a bunch of inane toddlers that send you voice messages insulting you after you pwn them in a game is your thing then buy it. Oh ya, and also everyone apparently are MLG pros on Gears 2, haha. I'm serious though, the community is terrible, but they are hilarious because you can say anything and they'll talk shit for hours.

You should buy a 360 instead of a PS3 for one reason Tiar.
It has games worth playing.

I'd get a PS3 just because it plays Blu-Ray and Microsoft won't be sticking it up your ass with all of their fees. I can't remember the last time I touched my 360 for gaming purposes.

I remember when my only mate with an xbox last touched his. It broke, and shortly after ate his fable 2 disk.
Waiting for FFXII...I? w/e and versus to release befor I will even bother.
And then it's gonna be ps3, partialy because I heard/read that it has the best blueray player and by then there might acctualy be some movies worth my time out by then... Batman definetly.
But if you realy must have one now, then 360.

No you need a silver I think and thats free but I do recomend gold mainly because of the party feature and games like WaW and GoW2.

You obviously want a 360 so what the hell is the point with the title or even this thread. Just buy what you want.

Does anyone even play the PS3? Like I said in the last thread about this, I've never even met a PS3 owner. I wasn't aware they had games worth playing that wasn't also on the 360.

I just got a PS3 :)
Get an xbox though. Most games look a weebit nicer for it and not all PS3 games are 1080p. Xbox is the best until the PS3 Is hacked, and were starting to believe that may not even be possible.

True. Most people forget the size of PS3 Games. Most would require a BR-D Burner, and running off the harddrive is out of the question, because its FAT32.

I'd still get a PS3 because you don't have to pay for to use your own internet to play games online. The PS3 and 360 equally suck when it comes to gaming, so might as well go for the one that won't hassle you as much.

360 - better game selection, better controller, and better interface. Netflix comes in handy as well if you end up doing the online thing. I wouldn't worry about the "omg the 360 breaks down" scare tactic people are using, as the warranty will cover it. Even past the warranty, most of the issues are easily repairable with fixes at the ready thanks to google.

The xbox 360 is and will be far superior for at least another year. By then, I imagine that more developers will be releasing better games for the PS3 at which point things will even out.
I'd still say to go for the 360 tbh. I have 8 games already, and I have little complaints at all with it. People keep complaining about technical issues with the 360 itself but I've had no such problems. Just keep it in a well vented area and don't be rough with it, and it will work like a charm.

They don't suck for gaming. You just have extremely poor taste.
Oh and boo fucking hoo, you have to pay 50 dollars a YEAR to play online. Give me a break.

I own a ps3. I like it. I like bluray. I have 7 games for it:
GTA4 - good
MGS:4 - good
MOH Airborne - Haven't played it yet
Resistance 1&2 - Haven't played it yet
Little Big Planet - great
Fallout 3 - good
Farcry 2 - I intend to finish it, but every time I go to sit down and play it, something more interesting happens. Like... paint drying.
All of my friends have 360's (at least my 3 closest friends do). All of them have had the 360 red-ring on them. All of them have received garbage support from Microsoft (no really, trash).
Xbox live is better than the ps3 service, and has more people playing it. It does cost money, but in the end you get what you pay for. I mean... the community sucks, but having a reliable, highly used service is worth the money.
In the end, whatever suits you, suits you. Both of the consoles are comparable, I just prefer sony.

$50 that could be spent on more important things (like gas). There's not much games for the 360 that are even worth $30, let alone $60. At least with PC gaming, there's endless shit you can do for free.

I quit at 33% when I played it for the PC. My friend told me that it got better after you reach the second part of the game. Once I did a little research about the ending of the game I just dropped that garbage game. That game was a nightmare.

I dunno, I've had more fun with Warhawk (Ps3) and Gears of War 2 than I ever have on a console game since CS:S or TF2. I actually buy games for consoles, and enjoy them past the day I buy them, unlike with the PC.
Also, when SF4 comes out I will probably say goodbye to PC games unless Darkfall is worth my time.

They completely screwed it up. I can't put my finger on it... it just annoyed me. Like, it wasn't bad, there's just no motivation for me to play it.
nothing, especially considering the multiplayer on the ps3 was slow, and crappy.

The multiplayer is known to be bad, period. Also, Far cry 2 just had a GTA mission style system with a half-assed open world which you could "explore" AKA encounter random outposts filled with dudes that keep shooting at you no matter how many times you clear them.

Gears of War 2 fucking sucks. Duck and cover gameplay got old ever since Killswitch. How you can play that garbage is beyond me. Even GoW fanboys themselves acknowledge the multiplayer is shit. And if the singleplayer is 7 hours long, that leaves you with a waste of $60. Btw, SF4 comes out for the PC, so I'll be playing it on there.

At least its something new besides the typical unloading of automatics. Maybe I prefer it since I don't like buying the million COD games or other generic shooters that come out.
Also, does SF4 come out on the same day as the consoles for the PC?

Gears of War isn't exactly unique. And there's more than just Gears of War and Call of Duty. GoW and CoD are both very overrated. Perhaps I'm spoiled by the greater programming of early Valve or something.
And the answer to your SF4 question is: probably not. But until there's a way I can plug a Sega Saturn controller into my 360, I don't have any reason to play it anyways.

Seriously, GTA IV online is some of the most fun I've had ever playing on a console. It's even better than Fallout 3, ffs. This is great stuff. :D
