People always assume I'm good at chess since I'm smart but I've even lost to a peasent rush, I suck so badly. Once I played this vicious chess program though and when I made a move so I was sure to win in the next move it locked up, simply refusing to make another move to ensure it didn't lose.

I used to a play a bunch, and was pretty good. I don't play much anymore since I don't really have anyone to play with. At home I generally play against my little brother or my dad. I'm very out of practice though, only played a few games in the past couple of years, although I still beat any of the folks I play. Helps that my dad taught me how to play, he's incredible at chess.

20 some odd years ago played a lot of beer chess.

4' x 4' chess board, 2 teams of 2. Pawns were little mickeys or other small
beer, queen was a bottle of wine, rooks were Fosters, bishops, knights etc
where 'other'.

When you took a piece the other side had to chug it. Frequently played
best two out of three. As a team we had a fairly simple strategy, if the
other team could drink but sucked at chess we'd out play them, if the
other team was good at chess but couldn't drink we'd trade down at every
opportunity.

Weren't too many teams that could both out drink and out play us.

Board 2 Varsity this year 3 - 0 - 2 (technically undefeated).

Board 5 Varsity last year like 13 wins - 2 losses - 1 draw (estimate btw)

I went undefeated in the South Jersey league individual tournament last year (3rd place...though I'll admit, it was kind of a fluke).

Not to be to critical but as was said early on, both of your early development was not really good. The only thing to gain from playing a queen on the second move is to try for a fools mate. If the opponent knows how to play all you do is hurt your development and lose the initiative.

Actually queen on the second move has won me tournaments (given, my competitive chess days were over a decade ago).

an incredibly hard game to become adept at.

It has an extremely simple rule set but is very complex.

True, I would've taken your queen. But then you could've taken my rook and checked my king. I would've had to move my king, allowing you to take my other rook and basically screw me royally in just a few moves.

Now would be a good time to mention that around 20 moves ago, if you had just exchanged a queen for a queen, you would have had a good chance to come back. See, I am using the queen exchange now to disable you and to keep our point loss equal. Sometimes minimizing losses is the best strategy.

Ah.. i was looking at the other side for the knight check using it for a queen escape.

Anyway getting his queen out of the way seems more important given that you
have a undeveloped force waiting to come into play and he doesn't have much left to counter it(queens can pull some miracles off when outnumbered).
