Just make sure it isn't crappy and gets destroyed when you want to bash it really hard

Do you even know how to play? If not, skip both unless you intend to learn (in which case, learn first, then invest in a real trap set)

For practice electric kits can make sense, since you can't play loud drums in most areas anytime of the day. If you're going to play a show however... it *has* to be a real drum set. Also the one's I've seen(two electric kits) screw up alot. When you hit too fast ect they won't respond properly their sensors/hardware are slow pieces of shit; could be all electric kits I don't know.

I wouldn't do it, for all their bullshit bragging I very much fucking doubt that they can simulate even something like the real range of a drum.

Drums are fun. I would learn them if I had extra money and place to practice(again that takes more money). but that electric kits is going to be lame and infinitely cheesy. Find a friend, or a drummer in a local band who'll let you mess around on their kit, and show you some stuff. A real drum set will be more fun and sound ten times better; So I would screw around on a buddies for a while to see if I enjoyed it enough to invest. But also it'll help you figure out what you should be practicing on your electric kit.

Yes, you are. You may have an uncontrollable stammer, but at least you know who to pay attention to.

Never got the point of drums.

Ripped one of the things in the set thing when my friend insisted i bang it as hard as i possibly can, the stick just punctured the layer of whatever the fuck that is.

Then i slammed the foot thing, broke that too.

Whats the point, take up Squash instead, or a guitar.

You cant whip out a drumset anytime anywhere for instant bonus points with the ladies you know.

You know how many lame ass guitarists there are? Being a drummer guarantees you a place in a band, since there are so many fucking guitarists/people-who-think-they-sing. Having a show next Saturday > than being that guy at a party trying to show off with a guitar while people are just hanging out shooting the shit.

I was referring to Bassists.

Bass > Drums

And in a pinch make a good meal.

Hmmm, interesting concept, and electric drums are awesome. I don't know if it's any good though, for that cheap. Good quality electric drums are uber expensive.

I only played drums couple times but I wouldn't use this to learn how to play. I would rather learn on the real big thing! Maybe I am wrong, this thing could be super awesome but you won't have the feeling of a real drum.

Clearly you should get it, but you would be better of with an indian drum.

Electronic drum kits are cool, but they look like shit compared to acoustic drums.

They're definitely great if you live in an overcrowded apartment, but imo they're definitely not up to par with the sound of an acoustic. If you can afford an acoustic: Roland or Tama (I've got a Tama myself) and have the space for one, definitely pick one up.

You buy a piece of shit and you're going to be ultimately unhappy, same goes with any instrument. If you spend the money on it, you're going to be more committed to learning it, and its much more fun to play. Pick up a Roland Vdrum set, you'll be much happier, and it does so much more.

I have a £130 limit for christmas whims...
If i like it and don't totaly suck balls after 6-8 months then i would upgrade.
Also i would not know any better as having never tocuhed a drum in my life.

Non electric drums are a no go due to the retardo amounts of noise.

A mate of mine has a set of those, they are bloody nice. Although if in the sense of being creative, have you already got, or thought about a music program, such as Reason 4.0 or Cubase, if sound is an issue? Though that is more for dance/beat/ambience kinda thing i suppose.

edit - now i'm not a drum expert, but i'm not really sure if they could take a pounding, compared to the Rolands (they are sturdy as hell), so i will vote no :( Sorry Spinewire.

But hey, do what you wanna do! and happy xmas!

If you're just getting it to learn, I say go for it. As someone that can play drums/guitar/bass, it's never a bad idea to start off cheap. I'd wager that most of those saying no have never touched an instrument or don't realize you're just starting, in other words have no fucking idea what they're talking about.

he got it from another friend, who got it from another friend.

They all beat the shit out of it continually.

it works sometimes.

It says there silent in the product page. If they are that would be a good thing I think.

Stupid rock band things are so loud that I can barely play at night without waking someone.

I wouldn't doubt it at all, the VSTs they have these days can be pretty fucking accurate. Of course you get what you pay for when it comes to the VST units and the trigger pads. For ~100 Pounds it's probably not going to be great, but if you are just learning there is no reason to drop $2K on a Roland set.

Also, if you are just learning, work with a metronome constantly. 20 minutes a day 4 or 5 times a week and you'll be riding the pocket in no time.

good call on the metronome that will bring it nicely up to my 130 limit

The video on the site did not sound too bad, true i'm no pro and would not know a shit drum from a good one but thats probabaly a good thing if i'm only spending 130 quid on it.

Ya man its cheap but effective for learning, I'm almost tempted myself. Definitely better than spending more for a real kit when you don't know yet how dedicated you are.

You need to try drumming a bit first. Worst case scenario go to a music store and fart around as long as the employees can stand you. Go to a local show and bother drummers there, tell them you're thinking about learning the drums. Maybe you could go to a colleges music department and tell a music professor you're thinking about joining jazz band as a drummer and maybe they'll let you mess around.
