View Full Version : Liberals are intolerant

I'll prove it on this thread. In general liberals are incapable of listening to an argument from anyone who is NOT them without:
* name calling
* attempting to shout down(or flame in the case internet with walls of text)
* engage in any logical fallacy in the book(red herrings, straw men, etc..)
No matter what, they will commit one of those offenses.

In fact it would be almost downright impossible for someone to put me in a political group because what I believe in hasn't been turned into a political group yet.

I think it is a little early to assume he is a liberal. For all we know, he is an incredibly conservative person who never takes risks- even the risk of crossing the street to spread his conservative ways to his misled liberal neighbors. He might even eat the same kind of sandwich every day.

If not in direct threads like this one then in every single political post you've participated in. What kind of liberals?
Libertarians? (Yes libertarians fall under liberalism)
Classical liberals that are even too hardcore for libertarians?
Conservative liberals that are almost neo-cons?
Social liberals that are borderline social-democrats?
Or libertines who are too hardcore for anyone on this forum besides Matriel perhaps?
Liberalism is the school of "freedom", off course you got many different sub-courses that try to reach freedom in different ways.

Mh, I never felt "revenge" in any political loss. I was quite upset when the Irish rejected the Lisbon treaty, but then again, it simply showed the lack of public relations in the EU.
I would reckon that professional defeats are better dealt by analysing and overcoming the obstacles. Just like you said, it only raises blood pressure in any other case.
Emotional (i.e. personal) ones are another story alltogether, obviously.

Actually I was quite good at taking nothing personal until Nov 4th and I suddenly lost it, even though I knew that Obama was going to win. I think I thought that the American people would change their minds at the last minute and I lost it when it didn't happen. I thought that America just went insane, and I went insane for a while with them. Then in a few weeks I realized that Obama is the new boss, same as the old boss and not "The devil incarnate" and I felt better. In fact with every passing day, Obama proves to be like Bill Clinton, it comforts me. I'd rather have Slick Willie 2.0, then a real ideologue in the White House.

Communism = means of production owned by the people.
Socialism = means of production owned by the state.
However I never understood how Communism can exist in practical terms since "the people" need representatives, so I have to come to the conclusion that on that point Karl Marx was full of shit.

The end result is still the same for people like me. You can't implement a Bolshevik Revolution without a bloody civil war, which means that my life is forfeit in that scenario.
Another thing I've learned is that you can't have open, honest debate with someone if there is a vested interest involved. I'll expound more on that in a separate thread some other time.

The problem with far left or right ideas is that in the end, humans are not perfect.
This means, that the "unplannable" is always a possibilty, and that if the individual does not voluntarily admit to society's major will, society either breaks down because it ultimately becomes more and more people who choose so, or it opresses indiviudal freedom.
None of it a viable options - I debate with far left-wingers on a constant basis, and they're not getting it that there's a difference between How and the result.
They can never say "how it will be implemented", only "how it will look like", i.e. a vision, a belief - just like religion.
One even told me that "We simply plan it!" when I asked him "how to plan the unplannable".

i gotta just laugh at all this...it appears the OP employs the exact tactics he despises, and is more than a little upset that the failed ideology that has ruined our Nation in the last 8 years was soundly defeated
as for this "endless cycle", again i must call bullshit...there is no "liberal" putting up threads such as this one, or writing books calling opposing political positions a "mental disease" or "traitorous"
the truly galling thing to the rabid neocons and dittoheads has to be the centrist choices Barry has been making so far...the guy has managed to mildly piss off everyone with what he is doing even before getting in office, the hard Left hates some of his picks and positions and the hard right can't seem to get a grip on the guy now that all their hate and fear mongering has failed abysmally
"revenge" for Nov 4th? - the OP shows his cards right there, note he said nothing about fixing actual problems or solving issues to help the country in this very trying time, but "revenge" for his "team" losing...very telling indeed
might i postulate that folks like the OP are indeed part of the problem rather than any factor of the solution, with their rabid and mindless partisanship and brand loyalty
your mileage may vary...

If there are enough houses for everyone having laws against that sort of thing (house invasion) can coexist with communism. Don't think of it as property, think of it as you're using the house right now, that a house is a tool you hold on to for a few years. This would be feasible with a great amount of automation or a few very productive individuals (which becoming the case in welfare states, the so called 3/4-society) but problem is: that would probably suck since most people go nuts without a job and if you have mock jobs just to keep people happy they wouldn't feel they'd be contributing. That's probably why many non-property advocates long for the times long past when it was just you and your tribe and your daily job was hunting mammoth.
