and - To the person who said in the religous thread that you lose nothing believing in god but if you dont believe you go to hell here is my answer (the thread was closed :( ).
If you believe in a non existant god every moment of your life you spend worshiping him is a waste of time, you only have one life so living your life hoping for heaven and planning for it is also a massive slip of judgment. You also have to account for the fact is god was real wouldnt he just know you are hedging your bets?
Just because you believei n Jesus doesnt excuse you from some other gods hell either.
Just saying.
Anyway what do you guys think about the CNN report? I knew about this before and it is deeply disturbing...

You assume what makes a God is understood. First a coherent definition of God must be presented before the question of the existence of God can be meaningfully discussed. Furthermore, if that definition cannot be falsified the question of the existence of God (per that definition) is meaningless. In this case, the concept of God is not considered meaningless; the term "God" is considered meaningless.

People are taught to follow orders at a young age, and most people cant outgrow it, and that’s why the majority of the people didn’t leave after 450 volts.

I've known about that study for many years. Damn, you kids go to school and the next day your rediscoveries lead you to post the info as news here.
Now you kids stay off my damn lawn! *shakes fist*

Ah well I have known about it for a bit and I know its not news but I thought it would make a interesting discussion topic. The cnn report is a nice overview of the concept.

The experiment is quite sad. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't shock someone to death because someone told me to do so.

You're acting all crotchety now. Is that shaking fist supposed to intimidate the whippersnappers?

This is old. Both the study and the refutation of pascal's wager.
