Bullet Time, Is It Real?
No I don't mean does time actually physically slow, but your thoughts when put into an intense situation have you ever felt as if the world around you was moving slower than usual?
For example. today we were playing dodgeball, with footballs. around 30 people, 20 footballs. my team of 15 kinda all got hit and I was the last guy around. the other team started massing footballs. (We're talking american footballs, like stewies head on family guy) Anyways they decided their throwing them at me all at once. And I dodge 13 balls in a matter of a few seconds. (No my class does not suck at throwing, I litterally twisted in ways I never imagined possible) I was like bending and shit and lifting my arms miliseconds after they passed under me. In the space of a few seconds I dodged about 12, fell flat on my ass a guy spiked one at my chest. and i somersault backwards out of the way.
It was fucking intense everyone in the rooms jaw dropped and everything.
So I ask you, bullet time, does it exist?

I've been in situations where thing slow down considerably, such as in a fight or a car accident. I'm sure not to the point where I could see bullets if they were just floating around though.

Oh, and have you ever watched a clock before? I've noticed it speed up and slow down, even though it was working perfectly. This just happens, it's common knowledge. This is why one hour of work seems like two, and two hours of fun seem like one. It's also proof that god hates us, because he's the one responsible for this bullshit.

Yes, it actually is. It's basically a response in which your brain throws itself into overdrive when you're in intense situations like car accidents or things of that nature.
I didn't even see Wanted but I know it was probably horrible. Besides that horrible shot in Tomb Raider when she's magically wearing no bra and running through a collapsing cavern, I think that was Wanted was Lady Croft's worst movie yet.
The concept behind the whole movie is pretty shitty as well--you can't "curve" a bullet--it goes straight when it comes out of the barrel, even if it's spinning. In fact, most guns have a spiraling barrel so that it will spin the bullet and give it greater accuracy (like a Football). Just another horrible shoot-'em-up movie to me.

Time doesn't slow down, but our perceptions of time that can change.
For instance, anesthesia does this.

Adrenaline, which is a natural drug that the body produces, increases a lot of things, including all of your senses. So, things can seem to 'slow' down a lot. Time isn't actually slowing, but your perception of time is becoming more 'tuned' as it were. Adrenaline is a cool thing.

I have noticed and studied my fight or flight responce. My mouth get a metalic tastes, the color dims just a wee bit but has more contrast, I feel as I am moving in water.
I feel great resitance moving but it is like being in water, every thing slows down, I do slow down some due to the feeling of resistance, but I am moving at a much greater speed than normal.
I get mad and break weird things, like ones a year ago I hit an iron skillet and folded one of the sides like a burrito, not an everyday occurance mosly cuase your hand can only realy put up with so much shit in one life.
I was told it is a side effect of to much concusion, but I have pretty much been like that my whole life.

"Woah!"
I was just thinking about this while reading the 'do you fear death' thread. This guy sped out into a jammed intersection one day and narrowly swerved to avoid my car. It moved so slowly (although he was moving about 40mph) that I could see his face and facial expression (terror) so clearly that I could make out his eye color and slight wrinkles on his forehead. I even had enough time to give him a scolding look.
I would liken it to procing fastcast on a game like WoW, haha. I think when that happens, sometimes your mind starts to go into overdrive and processes a lot faster, you get a lot more mental space in the aloted time, seems like its slowing down from our perspective.. I don't know, what I mean to say seems hard to express.
I think they call it an "adrenalin rush", yeah.

Bullet time itself is not real your a fucking idiot.
I will say one thing though, I do understand what you mean, it just isn't bullet time, it's actually a mixture of reflexes and your eyes being able to read peoples' movements ( I don't know the whole science behind this so don't shoot me ). Yes it does seem that the person your looking at is slowing down but it's more the eyes are able to actually see at the speed the person is moving, that's why everyone including yourself gets shocked at being able to react to it because in reality your body itself is just reacting to what your brain is telling you to the movement and nothing more.
So in short, bullet time is bullshit, it's another overhyped concept used by the media, it's all about reflexes, the reason it was blurry was because you were moving fast.

our brain percieves time in different ways, depending on the situation. Kind of like our internal clock slows up or speeds down...its some pretty interesting shit, albeit complicated.
but i do that shit in dodgeball all the time too. i am teh :ninja:

They made a guy do a bungie jump and watch a screen that flashed rapidly with a number on it.
Normaly you cant se the number because its too fast.
When he did the bungie jump he could see the number.

I get it sometimes if im about to get in a fight and im out-matched or i just want to end it quick and get riled up (Ace in the hole baby). When your blows land you can see the shockwaves and ripples of energy going through the body. Srsly, all that ninjutsu stuff is stupid easy in slowmo.

Sort of. The faster you think, the slower time will seem to pass. You can almost stop it if you practice, but it's not easy. I could make it appear to "stop" for about enough time for me to count to 3 in my head in what would be "seconds", but I couldn't do it any time I want. Now, when I'm pumped with adrenaline, like during a fight, it always seems to slow down.
