I might, if they weren't fucking retards and destroyed other peoples property that they've worked for because of their beliefs that there should be no govt. Just the same as a religious extremist IMO, some anarchists aren't that bad, but other's are just idiotic..
IMO the riots were pretty neat though. Cept for the whole killin' thing and destroying every fucking thing they could.

I have to agree with this. You don't get justice by burning everything that happens to be in your general vicinity. That does nothing for you.
Not that most of them even want justice, they are just out for the looting and the chance to try to 'get even' with police officers. None of them have the maturity to understand the situation.

This incident sparked an immediate and widespread response in the form of angry demonstrations and riots in many Greek cities that have continued at varying levels to this day - though dimming in intensity recently. Alexander's death appears to have been a catalyst, unleashing widespread Greek anger towards many issues - police mistreatment of protesters, unwelcome education reforms, economic stagnation, government corruption and more.
Read the link, it's not like a shit ton of people decided to riot, simply because some boy died. I'm not saying this was the appropriate response to all this, but i'm not gonna tell a bunch of greeks how they should do shit in their own country, let them sort it out their way, and keep your nose out of their shit.

No, riots are fine. It's not like they're rioting because of the little terrorist who got shot. When you feel the government steps over the line and takes your rights and liberties away, it's okay to be pissed off. You're required to actually. Although I don't support the reasons they're rioting, I'm supporting their expression of dismay.
Just don't expect not to be shot for it. Don't trash other people's properties. Don't kill other, innocent people. Rebelling against the system doesn't justify this, obviously.

I agree that destroying private property is going too far. I do believe it's more dangerous to sit there and take it than to riot once in a while though. While I don't necessarily endorse their case, I for one see it as a healthy sign when the people have the balls to stand up to the government once in a while.

Agreed. I sincerely doubt anything but a deformed kid with amputated arms and Down syndrome would get into tazer range before being able to throw his fire bomb. If he did raise his arm to throw it, then any sane person would prefer not eating molotov cocktail for dinner.

I don't think they're"hippies" in any sense of the word. A police officer shot and killed a fifteen year-old boy because he was rioting. The officer shouldn't have given into that taunting, and even if he should have, mortally wounding him is not the proper way to control a situation like that. Shame on the policemen who killed the young man, but shame on the rioters who decimated innocent peoples' businesses.

If I were an Athenian and this happened to any kid, I would be angry as well. It makes no difference if he's just a kid or my mother--the police had no right to shoot and kill a fifteen year old boy. What angers me the most is that he wasn't a terrorist or even truly threatening the police, and that he was a boy. It takes a very cold-hearted person to kill somebody of that age, as well, and so I feel no remorse for whatever punishment he receives.

I love how people will happily stereotype all teenagers the same and remain blind to any intelligence they might show.

It just goes to show you the uneducated are quick to anger.
They don't deserve their rights or liberties.
For fucksakes, what happened is unknown.
The police officers could be innocent for all they know.
You obviously do not know the whole story:
The protests began because many college students felt that they were not recieving good enough enducation, because their right wing government does not spent enough money in the educational system. The students were getting pissed about this because they cannot compete in the job market in Europe because all the other countries are generating better educated workers. So it was the government that was slowly destroying their own country by not educating the youth. Then that kid was shot and killed by a police officer and that is when protests turned into riots, USURPATION!!! That kid dieing was like the Gulf of Tonkin for the Vietnam War, if you don't know what that means then maybe you should start protesting your countries educational system.

Not only are they destroying their own city, they are destroying the nation's capital, so yea, if the system is broken then fix it. Obviously the original protestors did not intend for all this to happen, but the blood was boiling with all the protests and when the KID was shot, that pushed everyone over the edge.
You could say the same damn thing about the Boston Massacre, since those 7people were killed do you think they should have not revolted? These are basically the same exact instances, just one is adapted for modern times with modern problems. I for one hope this will effentually lead to a better leadership for their country because obviously the current one is not doing good enough.

The death of that Kid was just the trigger.
The youths is generally rioting against the Politicians (not just the government) and the world that we are handing over to them.
And do trust me the great majority of Greeks is supporting the kids and would have done exactly the same if not worst if they were on their place. Numerous cases when elders actually prevented arrests of youngsters by getting in the way of cops that were trying to arrest the rioters
Just to give you an idea of today the politicias are buring closing a case of Great economic scandal that envolves a number of them.
also all the lawyers that were on the defence of the cop have quited the case.... the one that stayed is known to defend and get cryminals out of jail and the lawyer body has already casted him out for tooshing shit to the kids memory.
Personaly I am Glad to be in a countly that is the same as corrupted us the rest of the word that still is able to react at least all the students in the country still do

Mostly they burned banks, police stations & Govermentt buildings. they tried to burn the Parliament Building & Maxim (but as it seems those were the only places the police was actually guarding.... they knew were people will head first for) (Maxim is the office of the prime minister.... think it as the white House for Greece)
The shops were looted hours after the main events and the people arrested were not anarchists but mostly economic immigrants living in Greece)

The media calls the generation of those kids "the generation of the 700euro"

Everyone knows now that this gov hasn’t got any chance to win the next elections. not that the Gov to follow is any better though.... 2 parties, 2 sides of the same coin, (its the one or the other) rules Greece for as long as most can remember.

What are they "fighting back"? One kid gets killed, and it wasn't even murder. Murder means, planed out. Obviously the cop, didn't plan out the murder ahead of time. He still killed the kid wrongfully, and should still be punished. However, those people are acting like cops are killing children every day for the last year. That is fucking stupid, that they will risk more lives and property damage.

To be honest that is just because our society got desensitized to violence. Not trying to say there was less violence some 50 years ago people just found it less acceptable.
Let this happen 50 years ago and the cop would be sitting in jail and no one would be burning the city down.

It sounds like the Greek government fucked the country in the ass one too many times, and people finally pulled up their pants and said "fuck no". It'll happen in America too. People will only put up with so much before they get up and start changing things. If this happened in America right now, would people riot? Fuck no. Come back in a year from now and see what would happen, I bet you'll find a lot less apathy and a lot more anger.
I'm sure a lot of those kids are just smashing shit because they can, hence all the property damage. That's how the world works, people will abuse any situation if they can. The reason that the riots are happening isn't to smash shit though, it's because a child (yes, 15 is a child) was shot and killed by the very people who were supposed to be protecting him. I don't believe that there was a molotov involved, maybe he was getting a little too excited, the cop fired at the ground to scare him, and the ricochet killed him. In truth though, the riots aren't about the kid, it was just the final straw.
I support what the rioters are doing, and I don't think they are going about it the wrong way either. Sometimes the only way to do what needs to be done is to go do it.

No. I believe murder is killing someone on purpose. You don't have to plan it out, it could also be a spur of the moment thing (second degree murder).

There is where you're wrong, it is not only because he was killed, it is because of the way the country is ran. Many people have protested over the years yet the gov just silences them, over the years of abuse(economically) the people grow with resentment. Like the quote says:

#16 fills me with rage. A stupid kid died because he used a lethal weapon against an armed officer of the law. What those dumbasses are doing in Athens has nothing at all to do with the civil movements that came before them.
But all of that changed when I saw #18. That guy is the shit.

As far as im aware, thats all the officer is saying and theres numerous witnesses saying the kid was only shouting abuse.

Who cares, they're still taking this to fucking far. "Oh, he killed a kid. Lets go kill more innocent people and cause millions of dollars in damages and fuck up our own country in an attempt for revenge!"
Seriously, if they're so pissed, go lynch the god damned cop who shot him ffs.

Aye, I don't think Americans would do something along these lines, and they took a huge risk by doing the things they did. Honestly, while their actions were wrong, I commend them on their bravery for attempting something like these riots.

You're right that at the moment no one would do anything, but if the mismanagement in America continues this could very well happen. The situation in Greece has been crappy for a while, and it only just came to a head now.

There is nothing exceptional or heroic about behaving like animals, and treating your fellow citzens the same. Also, to say these scenes are not too far off in the United States is probably accurate. To say that it makes them reasonable or admirable is something else entirely.

So violence is never the answer? This is the only option left to them to try to fix the problems the government in their country has caused. The property damage is a shame, but like I said, there will always be people who take advantage of unrest to break shit. That doesn't devalue the ideal that the original protesters are fighting for, that just means that there are evil people in Greece.

To all you people who keep saying that "the kid got what he deserved" and "they shouldnt be doing this" really need to do some research rather then post your idiotic and unwanted opinions which have no facts to back up.
In a nutshell what is happening in Greece right now is the same thing that happened in the U.S. right before the revolutionary war. The people are not rioting because the kid was killed, that was merely the straw that broke the camel's back. They are rioting because their government chose to suppress the people's voices rather then listen to them. The government crossed the line by killing that kid and now the protesters are revolting, they are fighting for what they believe in. So if you believe it is wrong for one to fight for what they believe in then you obviously do not believe the colonies had the right to revolt against Britain and thus are a fucking retard.

Wrong, it's not THE answer, it's AN answer.
There are much better ways to do things, but y'know, it's hard to fight corruption and injustice with peaceful protests and signs.

There is where you're wrong, it is not only because he was killed, it is because of the way the country is ran. Many people have protested over the years yet the gov just silences them, over the years of abuse(economically) the people grow with resentment. Like the quote says:
"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable."- JFK
It's only a matter of time before it happened. The shooting was only a catalyst. I am against the burning and looting of small private shops, but other than that I support the Greeks fighting against it.
Who cares, they're still taking this to fucking far. "Oh, he killed a kid. Lets go kill more innocent people and cause millions of dollars in damages and fuck up our own country in an attempt for revenge!"

Read snipes, and realize that it is not only because of the kid. It's already been settled the kid was a catalyst if you will.

So riots may be necessary because of the government, but why not attack.... ummm... you know like... oh I don't know but perhaps maybe actual government buildings instead of random peoples' source of income? You make the innocent victims' of the riot sick.

They have been. They've been attacking police stations and government buildings everywhere. There was property damage that was caused by assholes who just wanted to cause havoc, which is what happens whenever this sort of thing happens. You're mistaking this riot for what most riots are, using an excuse to cause trouble. These people have a legitimate reason to be pissed off.
