Lucas Arts and Bioware have finally come clean and announced their new MMO:

Looks to be nothing like Darkfall of course. Will likely be more WoWish sadly, but they claim to be focusing on story elements within the MMO which could create a fun mesh of single player and MMO RPG elements. And for a fan of the KOTOR series like myself, it's enough to get me pretty jazzed.

It's true... but I haven't seen much about (anything) it on the forums. And it's only in the most recent updates that they've actually started giving out game info. (Still pretty sparse)
Edit: The official press release was on the 21st of October- the only reason the community existed before then was because of leaks. Lucas arts just said fuck it and started the site up before they even officially acknowledged the game.

NO dont its a trick, they will brain wash you into giving them 15 dollars a month for a game you dont even like to play anymore, then a senator will come down an visit the enclave an help you escape, then once all the world see's what happens Lucas Arts will make you drink the "MAJICAL POTION" which will take you to The Star wars universe

I just hope they make it feel a little like KOTOR, and not a complete SWG clone.

Yes. I cry a little. And then I have a little anal seepage, but that has nothing to do with my sadness.

I just think about how epic Kotor was and take solace in the fact that it is possible for good Star Wars stories to exist outside of 4,5,6. Then I get a little anal seepage.

I actually thought Force Unleashed had a pretty good story that would've made an awesome movie.

The times of the Old Republic would make great movies if Lucas was what he used to be. I don't consider 1 2 and 3 to be complete failures, but they are definitely not on par with the first trilogy.
I've read a little about the game, but I'm not really appealed to it. It seems like it's more like a solo game. You can make robots that fight by your side rather than group with someone else, for example. And the graphics are just plain awful. Usually I don't fuss about graphics, but it's clearly cartoony because WoW is. There's no reason in hell they should make the graphics cartoony.
I'll keep following it, but I don't expect myself to play it unless it's more PvP based and less of a WoW clone.

I see The Old Republic as being DF's polar opposite with respect to WoW. DF focuses on PvP and sandbox, hoping that the story and interest will just sort of flow naturally from the players in the world. The Old Republic, on the other hand, focuses on story and immersion, hoping that the quality of the story and the player's ability to guide it will outweigh the lack of true freedom.
WoW fails both at story and PvP/Sandbox. Endless grinding =/= story and their version of PvP is a hollow shell that revolves almost entirely around gear and in what direction your class is horribly imba in the current patch.
