...for around $150 bucks.

I basically want them for gaming, and pretty much nothing else matters.

The TRITTON AXPro True 5.1 Gaming Headphones (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826235005) look the best out of what I've seen at Tiger Direct and Newegg, but I can't really be sure if they truly are good since this is my first surround headphone buy, and I know that quality can vary wildly.

Your best suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

I have a Saitek Cyborg 5.1 headset, but the surround functionality isn't really that great, the rear speakers have really thin, tinny sound. They are have fantastic sound overall though, with great bass and clear treble.

The set you linked is much more expensive than mine though, and with more connectors and most likely better drivers, so it probably sounds better in surround mode.

If you have the cash to blow, do it.

This looks like a nice headset and it seems to have true 5.1 and not a 5.1 emulation like many "5.1 usb headsets" have.

The system specs are appealing and if I didnt have a nice headset I would prolly try to grab one of those.

My favorite is what my highschool uses
Really cheap and mostly made for schools but trust me, this is great for gaming

The base is amazing, it's about 3 times as loud as my Sennheiser's. If you want surround sound though, I'd get a real surround-sound system like the G51 or the Bose Companions.

If you want something sexy but expensive, I'd wait for the Razer megalodon -Try the surround-sound demo, it's simply amazing-

Buy a decent pair of headphones then a Azuretech sound card or a headphone amplifier.

I've honestly never bothered with headsets unless they're cheap because of how fast I can type, it's mostly just a bunch of whiney clanners or idiots when you turn on voicechat anyway.

Labtech headsets are pretty cheap and easy to get, solid too, but don't expect them to last longer than a year or so because of how cheap they are, I seriously wouldn't buy into most of that gaming crap personally.

THIS!! (http://www.zalman.co.kr/ENG/product/Product_Read.asp?idx=215) i have had quite a few headsets. this is the best for true 5.1 that i have seen. great for directional indication. and yes i took them apart and they do have 6 speakers.

edit: no mic tho.

I've heard Turtle Beach (http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/gaming-headphones.aspx) will do the trick.
