The Core i7 CPU uses a different socket than the motherboard you picked, and LGA 1366 boards only use DDR3 RAM so you'd have to up your RAM as well. So, my advice would be to step down the CPU to one of the last gen and you'll have more to spend on a video card.

ocz advertises those ram sticks to have a copper bar on either side, but they usually come with one on one side. Just so you know.

i7 would require the LGA 1366 board which would not support the ram i've chosen.
got it.
Thanks!

Why are you getting an i7 and then getting a video card in the $100-$150 range? Get an E8500 and then get a video card in the $200-$250 range, you'll be better off for gaming purposes by a long shot.

For a graphics card...

or if you end up with an extra 100 more bucks to spend after downgrading your CPU...

If this is purely for gaming, your graphics card should be more expensive than your CPU. GPUs mean a lot more to gaming than CPUs. The PSU is also kind of overkill, go with a cheaper 700W one in my opinion.

holy fucking hell expensive cpu and mobo. why don't you just sell your soul for it instead, it'd be cheaper overall.
I wouldn't go with anything but a quad, especially when you see the difference in for example GTA 4. Next year will probably start to bring in some more quad utilizing games. You should prioritize the gpu though, it has a much bigger impact than a more expensive cpu.

If you want a computer that will last you for a long time, you should buy a quad and get better video card than that.
When I will get the money I want to buy this motherboard haha

I'm brought to tears at the very thought of how much micro-stutter would be caused by 6 GPUs.
DING 2000+!!

Pretty much this, for your current price range Proto. Alternatively you could get a GTX 260 instead of an HD4870; the cost and power is about the same between the two of them.

if you are ging to spend that much on a HS/F then find a better one. try a thermalrite ultra 120 extreme, noctua NH-U12P and a second fan, zerotherm nirvana NV120 or save some cash and get a xigmatek HDT-s1283 and a bolt through kit.

Be aware that is the non extreme model of ultra 120, you need to look on the site I linked for the fan to find the Ultra edition as Newegg doesn't have it.
