thank you (and happy easter).
Nice to have such feedback, I expect there will be more and more of these as an Open beta arrives next month :)

Nice! The Deathless Mage and Black Knights rule, bring on tha Beta.
I Don't think the screen shots are bad, its just some of them don't look quite right. I think its the "perspective" certain things such as the objects seem a little out of perspective relative to how they should look from the apparant angle that the shots were taken!?
One more thing the armor and clothing appear to be "skins" over the character models, rather than 3d modeled. Is this going to change?

Thanks
I like the devspeak feature, nice to see that it's used frequently. I was a fan of the dev .planfiles from the older site. It's also quite nice to be directed 1-click directly to one of the newer developer statements. I can imagine people not following the game through the forums, but are randomly checking the site, appriciate this way of keeping up-to-date with newly released information and topics discussed by devs also. It's also nice that it is made easy for us to check up on previous "devspeak" updates through the archives link.

A good update, am glad to hear that the FAQ will be getting some regular lovin attention from questions raised on the boards, lord knows we got enough of 'em to keep you guys going for a while. :)
I would perhaps make the suggestion though, of archiving the current FAQ, and starting the new FAQ based entirely from questions in the forums from scratch. Answer old questions again with new - or even the same, if nessacery - info if yas want, but a clear cut 'new' FAQ I think would be a fairly good thing, as a fresh source of 'new stuff' for us. :)
And as for the screenshots, I surely know the truth of a lot of the dynamics being lost in a still frame, assuming the animations are fairly good in their current form, the motion would really bring even the current state of the engine to life in a much better way than the screenshots could alone.
Personally, I didn't have much of a problem with the SS, I thought they were fairly good actually, I was just mildly disapointed that there wasn't more info released, nothing more on prestige classes, nothing more on skills, still lacking a high res map, etc.
I know that a lot of this info is very hard to release at this point, as it will all be in a constant state of change and flux, particularly when it enters into actual balance testing. Also, it is probably not really desired to release any information about anything you are not totally sure can be delivered.
And yes, I guess it is better to have a delay on information, than to hang out some tasty stuff, only to have to repeat the horror of most other games and say 'Well, uh.. actually.. Sorry.. Not in release guys, maybe in an xpac in 2010.' ;)
Anywho, keep up the good work on the site, I, and I'm sure everyone else too, appreciates it.
Is this a Black Knight (http://www.darkfallonline.com/gallery/visuals/darkfall_screen007)? The big guy in the screen matches the monster description. Minus the giants swords of death though.

I agree with the perspective view... still images are nice to look at, but in motion you get an entirely other feeling about things.
Happy easter to you all, I hope you can find some rest and relaxation!
//edit: that black knight looks really cool, nice job!

good news about beta, woo, new mobs look good, i think the biggest attraction to the screenshots and mobshots has to be the unique "feel" that is being made, unlike some graphically generic games coming out *cough eq *cough, this should actually make for a distinct playing atmosphere, kinda like the dark origial diablo, not the sellout second one

Indeed there is perspective issue in some of the screenshots. Lets hope this problem will be sorted out :) Most of the screenshots though look really great and I would love to see more of them ;)
Keep up the good work guys!
oooh and btw the black knight kicks ass :D

Thanks again for more updates!
I have to ask, was the black knight inspired by monty python? Seriousy when I meet that thing it better yell "I'm invincible!" and "It's only a flesh wound!"
Just like the wait for the website wait was worth it, im sure the beta wait will be worth it too.

The BlackKnight seems to be getting quite a bit of attention.I, personally am drawn to the Deathless Mage more. Its description seems to give us a glimpse of some of the tactical AI we will see.
"They tend to surround themselves with minions, and they boost themselves with spells when informed that enemies are approaching."
As for what Jon said, I really have thought the new screens were quite nice.I don't see much wrong with them.I do hope when he mentions the Lighting, and shader changes, it doesn't mean things are going to bright and cheery.I thoroughly disliked that blindingly bright, happy feel of nearly everything in EQ, even of some of the dankest places.

Nice. The monsters are absolutely fearsome.
The Watcher is a deathless mage. Question I have is do you plan on making such an "epic-like" historical figure an NPC or will you have him controlled by Game Masters on special occasions? If PvE is ever interesting, it's when it's a special once-in-a-while event.

Are those "forbidden rituals" that preserve Deathless Mages just descriptive fluff or will some races forbid (through alignment hits?) some types of magic or certain specific spells?

Great update, was especially happy to hear from the 3D artist Jon Hughes. Jon, keep up the great looking monsters, the Deathless Mage is my fave to date.
Tasos these updates are much appreciated, keep up the great work. You and the team have alot of faith invested (I speak for myself but i'm sure many feel the same) in your work, and so far it has the look and feel of excellency. Make your mark, make a damn crater!

Good stuff. Both new monsters are looking nice, and the descriptions of them are also good. I can't wait to see the Black Knight's swords, hehe.

That could be interesting.
forbiding some spells... such necromantic(create undead type) spells, each time a specific necromantic spell is cast it is a divot towards losing another alignment point.. would make becoming evil very easy for certain classes, so may not be a good idea.. but in general civilizations people that make zombies and such are not considered really nice people. I am all for hearing more on that..

It's nice to see that the devs aren't dead, unfortunately, there was no new info in that devspeak, other than 2 new monsters that I'd much rather encounter IN-GAME for the first time.
I don't give a crap about the damn graphics either... My favorite games are AC and CS and I'm currently playing UO. And the graphics are just fine. DF's graphics are gorgeous compared to these 3 games.
Ah well...
So far so GREAT! I retract my previous statments about losing faith! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! IT WILL PAY OFF DEARLY!
