I play it, have been for about 2 years now.

There is no learning curve, it's a wall.

Best advice out there would be "Find a _player_ corporation that tries to help out newbies (I find mission corps decent for this)

Don't give up on it and you will probably love it =)

Alfaroverall and Teth are probably the local authorities on the subject. I wouldn't recommend it as it's not a game suited for just waiting until DF though.

I'm playing. I've got about 4 mil SP. I'm in a corp that now has about 11 people. Said corp is also in factional warfare. We do quite a lot of PvP ops these days. Last night we popped some n00b player outpost from some corp on the other side of FW. The noobs forgot to put ammo in the base guns! In-game name is Skotia, PM me in-game if you are interested in joining up with us (SP minimum is 3 mil I think, though, which will take about 2 months to reach). You can also PM the CEO, whose in-game name is Zyck and whose forum name (on here) is Kinsari.

But yeah, if you're planning to use it to soak up time until DF, don't bother. It won't get fun for you before DF releases, I can almost guarantee that; the first 2 months or so are pretty freaking abysmal. If you have an interest in playing DF and EVE at the same time like me...give it a shot.

Thanks guys

Thanks alfar,

Ive been reading over a pretty solid player guide, it looks pretty deep, which I like, and I'm not going to pretend DFO is coming out in DEC, which I doubt. But Eve seems pretty interesting MMO. So you are saying contact you once I have around 3 mil?

3 mil skill points, not 3 mil ISK. And feel free to contact me before then, if you like. I can help with questions you may have. It's just that you probably won't be able to join the corp until you hit 3 mil SP. Corp rules and all.

I played long enough for maybe 26M SP... fucktons of my life wasted.

Eve can definitely be fun, but it's a business model more than an MMO tbh.

EVE is an awsome game, and CCP could teach other devs alot about PR.

If you plan on actually getting into the game I can waive the minimum SP requirements.

It's more of a guideline than an absolute rule. Name in game is Zyck as alfar mentioned. Feel free to convo me.

Tried it out in early 2005. Back in the days when the tutorial was "This is how you mine, this is how you shoot, Good luck and have fun!". Quited then, didn´t really appeal. Tought it was waay to complex then!

Joined again in 2006, and have stuck ever since... after the first months of learning, doing some easy missions, joining a corp, getting a few friends, it was the most awesome thing I had ever experienced!

Nowadays I have about 33mil SP, 99.9% specialised in PvP. Doing casual PvP and missions, not playing as much as before... But yeah, the game is helluva fun (best I´ve played) once you get past the huge brick wall in the start. Which is easier said than done. But you guys have it easy now! I tell you that!

Round 30 mil SP myself sadly. Pure combat with no Capital training as of yet either.

Haven't actually logged in to do anything other than switch a skill within the past few months though.

I loved Eve. I had to leave due to RL stuff. Just resubbed 2 days ago. I have almost 5 mil SP. It is a very detailed game and I love it for that. So much to learn and you keep on learning.
Just wish we could land and build on planets and such.

I played the game since launch - off and on .. I played consistently the last two years and I must say it really has its good qualities, but overall, the one thing that can never be cured with all of it's expansions/patches is that it's an incredibly boring game.

Playing, kinda. 3,2m SP already but never really gotten into EVE other than setting skills on training. I guess I'm missing a good corp where I could learn how the shit works.

With less than a month until DFOs supposed release, you'd think picking an mmo that doesn't require a year of gametime to compete would be a good idea.
