I've just started playing 2142 again and even though EA is desperatly trying to run this semi-popular franchise into the ground, the games still show some signs of wanting to win, therefore;

Which game is your favourite/THE BEST EVAR and why?

The should have kept jets in 2142 over from 2 I think. Choppers are cool, but jets are better.
Thats the only thing its missing, everything else they improved upon and added to.

BF 2 with the AIX mod. Been playing a lot of that recently.

Forgotten Hope mod is good if you like WWII stuff.

1942, loved beaching the battleship on the Iwo Jima map and using the guns to pin the Japs on Mt Suribachi.

The rest sucked. Vietnam had potential but was just terrible. Anything futuristic just forget it.. we have enough of that rubbish as it is.

BF2 was the first and decidedly last game I'll ever play of the series. It was decent and fun to start with but could've been so much better without EA greed trying to milk what they could out of it with an expansion/booster packs nobody really plays, but then ignoring it completely thereafter with glaring faults still in the game.

On vietnam... man, playing with mates, under heavy gunfire, screaming 'where the hell are you' then in the distance you hear Ride of the Valkyries loom over with the blades of the chopper... ahh pure magic! But i find it impossible to go back to the game now, but the memories live on.

Bf2 was cool aswell, i even enjoyed 2142 too. Thats about it for me though on the series.

2142 was the only Battlefield game I have ever played, so I'll have to go with that one. It's pretty good, it's one of the few shooters were recon actually takes some thinking to be good at it.

You can pick up BF 1942 the complete collection for pretty cheap. $20 or less. It has 1942, 2 expansions and Vietnam.

If you haven't modded any of em you're an idiot though. EA only took em so far, mods take em the rest of the way.

All other BF's were crap spin-offs of these as far as I care, which isn't far.
I don't know/care about expansions. Just pretend the games came pre-expanded in my list.

bf 2142, they should have kept jets though, and done away with the chopper's 10 missle barrage of insta death homing missiles that will follow you 12 times around the world at the speed of sound multiplied times pi.

Vietnam, i liked jumping up on top of the tanks and droping grenades in the turret. theyd bounce out a lot of the time, but if you get it just right it usually blows it up with 1 grenade


BF2 was cool too, but it sucks that they nerfed the guns on the blackhawk

I liked Battlefield 2 as well. The others were shit.

You can't really say the other Battlefields are shit because they are all virtually the same game, or at least they were until recently.

And your breaking the golden rule of gaming, the original is always the best.

BF 1942 with the desert combat mod. I loved that game(mod) and still do, I even prefer it over BF2, expecially for flying.

I only played Desert combat mod and BF2 to any significant extent.

I like hiding out in a building trying to survive artillery strikes while shooting people that come in. I don't actually help my team or anything.

It was kind of ironic too because I was living in the middle east when desert combat mod came out for bf1 and would play against Arabs in lan-cafes. I'd steal planes/helicopters and jihad them.

Overall I like desert combat the most. helicopters were amazing.

Blah, all of those mods are +realism mods, and I don't think I'd enjoy BF if it was more 1-shot kill. I think they got the balence just right.

What the battlefield series needs is a new fucking publisher that will actually SUPPORT the whole series :S I wanna play Battlefield 2 again but I don't think I'd be able to stand the crappy servers, I may log on again to check whether it's still kicking though, I might be able to play it with my new net connection now.

Well, I would have to say BF2142 only because of the newer physics engine. I wish DICE would've had more maps and supported the game more, but that is what happens when a big company(EA) buys small one.

Anyways, there are plenty of mods out there to keep someone busy playing BF 2142 for several years...!
