The way games are progressing, the next step would be Virtual Reality. I expect that in the somewhat near future, that MMO's will be in Virtual reality. Put on your helmet gloves and away you go. No keyboards or mice. Just suit up and log in and it looks as real as a Holodeck on the Enterprise. You could feel the wind, hits and so on. Not enough to cause serious pain but let ya know you had been hit.

You young bucks will have made then :D

I am just curious as to what Game Company will create it.

i saw mthis thing where they can just hook your brain up and send electrical impulses to it to create a virtual world inside your head.

that's probably what the wave of the future will be since it has more obvious benefits...

It really aint that long away. Technology just advances faster, and faster, untill it will eventully consume the human race, but thats another story.

Remeber that video that genius japanese kid made, about 3d enviorment movement using head tracking? I bet you sony has it all figured out for the PS4. Sony will win the console wars, just watch, they've been milking for a long, long time, just to finally soon be able to bestow the world with a better "reality".

PS3 Home. Their first step.

But what will happen in about 100 years? Are humans actually Dragonball Z wannabes, training in hyperbolic timechambers with holodecks and VR enemies faster an stronger then we can ever imagine? Fuck that would be awsome.

The world will be wiped clean of life with only a few survivors living underground. Eventually, humans will rebuild themselves through Virtual Reality environments. There would be a time of peace. Peace however, is forever shortlived. War would break out. Thousands would be virtually murdered, causing the life support system in their machines to stop working. Death would be slow, excruciating, and more real than anything they had ever experienced...

At least twice. Seriously. I'm not much of a movie fan, but really the Matrix is a bloody classic (albeit the sequels aren't quite so good).

do it right, set aside the time...get comfortable, and watch all three as one piece, same as you would Godfather 1&2 or the LotR flicks

yer welcome...

EDIT: and a big chunk of the reason many think the others don't hold up is due to the large gap in time between the ground breaking first one (effects wise, as well as story twist)

by the time the next ones came out, the visuals had been used by many copies and lost their initial impact....there is some cheesiness, but as a whole, it stands up decently enough for light movie fair

i said one and two for a reason.... (2 was awesome, silly)

and i can agree LotR wasn't sliced bread...i had a few issues, but overall and taken as a whole it wasn't bad at all...

but what do i know....i'll sit and watch an entire season of Deadwood all at once

and they are already halfway there.

they need to make a special chair to go along with that. a chair that throws you out when you are hit by explosions in game.

Um....

The HTX Helmet is worn in conjuction with the 3rd Spaceā„¢ Gaming Vest and delivers blows to the head when you are fired upon.

Feel bullets whizzing by your helmet or the impact of getting shot in the head.

If this was mandatory in CS I think games would be quite a bit more interesting

Yeah, the virtual reality will be the next step in gaming. The final stage in distant future could be a matrix style thing that you plug yourself in the thing and then you step into the game itself. It might be disturbing but at least it means an end to the autoattack craps like WoW and it's clones.
