My friends have been bugging me. They don't even believe me............I hate all music.
Never had any music playing device in my life, never wanted one. I would rather ride in a car with hours of silence then have the radio on.If a show I like is on and they have a musical guest, I change the channel and watch commercials. I just find music...annoying....
Are there any real conditions that lead to this?

Actually there is a disorder where the brain can't tell what is music and what isn't. Saw a video about it within the past month on videosift but can't locate it. Basically the people who have this problem hear music much like listening to someone drop a ton of silverware on the ground.

And if it helps "diagnose" it, I also read for hours, non-stop. My record is probably about 7 hours without stopping, I finished one book, and went on to finish a second, each about 400 pages long.

Reading's got nothing to do with it. The part of your hearing the processes music is broken, imo. Some people either a) can't hear the patterns that make music interesting and/or b) can't hear the relatively slight variations in pitch that make melody or chords impactful.
Though if you were absolutely apathetic (not in terms of enjoyment, but in terms of emotional impact) towards every form of art, then it might be some psychological block.

I fail to see how this is relevant, hell I can read 400 pages in two hours and I already finished reading more than that since I woke up today even though I only spent a few hours reading (which is pretty normal for me).

Okay, you're explaining this very poorly...
So you're saying you can understand music and comprehend rhythm and tone, yet you don't receive any emotional feeling from it?
I mean this in the least offensive way possible, but... If I said that correctly (and excuse me if I did not) and you really believe you are immune to the emotional effect then that would mean you have an emotional or social disorder (which I would assume is of minimal effect because you seem to comprehend the emotional tone and theme of books). Perhaps you just have very minor Asperger's Syndrome.
Or perhaps you just say all of this because you are seeking attention. ;)

Ok, here are the directions. Lift your hands up to the sides of your head, put them about 1-3 inches above the place your neck attaches to your skull. If you feel lumpy, cartilage things, then you are just a fucking weird, mentally psychotic human. If you feel cold, hard steel (or something of that sort) you are a self-aware futuristic robot that thinks its human. And the sound of any joyable noises make your main hard drive vibrate in a certain way that makes you hate music.

I sincerely doubt this has any relation whatsoever. Hell, even saying you "think to much" isn't really relevant most likely, I'd guess your distaste for the more abstruse forms of art derives more from how you think than how much. You likely also prefer concrete, definite, hands on learning.

You can't read 400 pages in two hours and get the emotional impact. You're probably even missing a whole lot of words and complicated grammar doing that and it's so fast it suggest you might be manic, but that would have increased enjoyment from music, not removed it.
Go listen to some really sad music to see if it works. The crap they play on the radio has little emotional impact usually. "I know it's over" by the smiths f ex. But if you're affected by prose, you should test with something instrumental instead.

I think you read my post, and mixed it up with the Op's. Also, I actually am a manic depressive (Bipolar type 2), so you're right.
Also, yes I can. I won't get the full impact but most of it I will. Although, you're completely right about missing words and grammar. When I'm reading that fast I read paragraphs instead of words. You understand how when you read you only read the first and last letter of a word usually? I can do something similar, however it works on a much larger scale.

The problem with this is that music invokes a purely physical reaction, in addition to the mental ones from built up experience. It's why it's essentially omnipresent in human society. (yes, I know religion is extremely common, although not omnipresent, but the reasons for that are entirely different)

perhaps you've never heard music you like. i hate the radio and television. so that is understandable. if your that concerned about it maybe you should try listening to alternative genres of music. try and think of the least annoying song you've ever heard, and then find out what genre that song is a part of and then listen to other artists in that genre. you may be surprised to find that you enjoy it.

Why would I lie? It makes me feel "kool"? I don't enjoy musi, it's as simple as that. For nthe people who think I just havn't found the right song/genre, a few of my friends thought the same thing, mainly they tried Punk, Rap, Techno, classic rock, and even some country.
It provoked no emotions, I always think of music as somthing that is just there and makes it harder to focus. I feel no reason to listen to it and I don't think it adds to any thing.
To the guy who asked what group I fit into, I have no idea, I wear black alot, but i'm not depressed at all, I joke around with my friends (who aren't emo). Usaualy if I go to there house, we either play video games, or some sport, it depends who i'm with.

Music is something that grows on you.. or you can relate to somehow. like http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8nRAK_wUvD8 that song reminds me of last summer in magaluf :) its just nice and chilled out + relaxing.
I dont think music has to have anything to do with any 'group' you belong to. My music tastes have changed with time but are totally differnet from any of my mates'

OP, I don't believe there is anything wrong with you. It seems like some of the people posting are saying you HAVE to listen to music because your in the age of it.
I myself considering my past; I've barely listened to much. I like music don't get me wrong but even though I only like rock, metal, and a few other things just a bit. I have honestly never bought a CD, I have downloaded a few songs(5-6), and I do listen to the radio. But I usually turn it off when they have crap songs and put it back on after it's over.
Honestly in this day in age there is so much bullshit going around it's scary. I literally see these bands who can barely play and the lead singer just screams like he is getting sodomized by a wine bottle. And yet they have a multi-hundred thousand dollar record deal with thousands more coming from concerts and merchandise. It boggles my mind and surprises me how greedy and depraved these record executives are.
I guess it's true what they say "They gotta make SHIT, to sell SHIT, to earn SHIT. I wish I was an audiophile I feel like I have missed out on a lot of things. Everyday regret sets into me not just on music but on a lot things but that's the way I am or maybe there is so much it's hard to spend hours listening to the genre I like that I just can't spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on things. I don't know but I don't see anything wrong with you maybe your just not like me willing to devote your time to music for whatever unknown reasons. (shrugs)

That makes no sense, you didn't say you simply had no taste for most modern music. You were very specific about hating all of it, which is something completely and utterly alien to what he described.

It was a joke. It's societys fault for making crappy music.:D
I don't believe you either, but if you were telling the truth... then it all depends.
Either you have a "taste aversion" (too lazy to look up spelling), and its made you dislike all music, or perhaps your body makes too much/little of any horomone('s) that somehow causes you to feel disgusted when you hear music.
It would be important to know much more about you, in order to decide whether or not this was just genetics, or psychological, or diet, or anthing else.
I still don't believe you though.
edit: I guess I should have elaborated better. All of our senses are connected to our brain, and horomones, diet, and other shit can effect that. But you sound like you are talking about a life long things.

It's super aids. The only cure is to go play Russian Roullette by yourself.
As a Certified Forumfall Doctor ™, I concur, and approve of this message. You have a fever, and the only prescription is more Russian Roulette.

This thread is a good example.....
Tell us a fucked up movie that no one has heard of (http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=83902)
I've never heard of some but that's because I don't understand those languages. Either way even if I did I'd still don't know about them.
I guess maybe my views on music are skewed compared to people. Maybe the friends I had were never so stringent with music that they taught me about all the good music. It's hard to say one of those things my brain tries to answer but can't and only sends me a weird cerebral contraction of electrical impulses because it's like saying "data unavailable". I'll admit my family was and is not the most wealthiest we certainly had our money crisis.
Or maybe I'm so old-school in my views that to me data in modern times. Is so easy to acquire it conflicts with me. I don't know I really honestly can't answer but I do know there is nothing wrong. I'll admit I'm a cancer I've read cancer's tend to be introverted and analytical somewhat involved in fantasizes in their views certainly that feels right to a T on my part maybe I over think or just can't contemplate what I like.
Reminds me of me and mathematics I LOVE math one problem I cannot contemplate shit and even basic math has become difficult; I know that makes me sound stupid but I can't grasp it, literally I'm a F student when I was in middle and high school. That's music for me I like music but I can't grasp the good things out of the bad. Maybe my bad mathematical side of myself conflicts because as we know music is mathematical in nature.

No, not really. The two may correspond on certain levels, but i think that is a gross over-simplification

I'm not very into music, and it's definitely very distracting when I'm trying to do anything, including gaming, if the background music is too loud I can't play well. I especially hate when other people put music on, even if it's a song I like I can't stand it when other people are playing it, probably because they usually play music WAY too loudly. When I do put on music I generally don't listen for very long. I do like music when I listen to it though, so it's a different situation.

I used to be like this. Then I got into music about a year ago. Now I hate it again. It just got boring and repetitive. I'm sick of it. :bang:
I'm a pretty fucked up person. So, you're probably fucked up, too. :)

I'm not very interested in music myself, I do consider it necessary and appreciate it when used right in movies and games but otherwise I could do without it.
I don't hate music, but most lyrics are just noise to me and the only songs I've actively sought out are humorous ones like Weird Al because they are, well funny....
It holds no interest for me and doesn't really have a place in my life, people spending crap loads of money on the newest iPod and buying every CD a specific band has made confuse the hell out of me
And after reviewing what I just typed I'm pretty sure I just said about the same thing 3 times
Edit: Actually its kinda comforting to now know that there are others that are not slaves to the rhythmic noise

I fail to see how this is relevant, hell I can read 400 pages in two hours and I already finished reading more than that since I woke up today even though I only spent a few hours reading (which is pretty normal for me).
Yo dawg I heard you like books so we put a book in yo book so you can read while u read!

The reason why you can't get into music is because all music you've heard sucks. Listen to Burzum and be ready for some orgasmic music.
