Out of all the sci-fi books I have read, I don't think any of them come close to Frank Herbert's Dune and the following books. I've never found anything close to as rich, complex, and as imagination-invoking as the Dune books. It's too bad that there are not as many movies and other multi-media made out of the Dune universe. There was an MMO in the works of Dune where you controlled a noble House of the Imperium and ruled it among others.
Dune puts Star Wars to shame. Dune! DUNE! DUNE! DUNE!
He who controls Arrakis, controls the spice. He who controls the spice, controls the universe.
And above all else, the spice must flow.

You might like Cyteen. That was a good one. Dune was good because it addressed many topics affecting out lives at once under the guise of Sci-Fi. You don't find many books like that.

Funny thing is I always looked at it as a more of a sci-fied philosophy book rather than a pure sci-fi. Kind of like Isaac Asimov's Foundation series.
But anyway, it rocks.

Dune is brilliant, i didn't like any of the sequels though, didn't even like messiah.
The foundation trilogy were brilliant throughout, still must agree that Dune is the best.

I see you never read that book. Now go read it. Then give your un-biased opinion.

Loved the books and the original movie, the remakes I thought were crappy and reminded me of power rangers meets star trek.

Hyperion certainly rivals Dune in its brilliance. Both are among my favorite science fiction novels.

I was young when I watched the film of Dune...and didnt understand a thing. Is it really worth a rewatch?
Only thing I really remember was like giant worms and some mineral they were mining. Oh and a ripoff of command and conquer game called Dune (dont think it was really a rip-off, but must have been same engine)

I dont particularly like the entire Dune setting to be honest.
Though, I'm a big fan of blue eyes, so Fremen women get a big thumbs up from me.

I really dug the first book, but by the time I got halfway through Dune: Messiah, I was just meh, and never finished it or the rest of the series.

Dan Simmons' Hyperion. Or Peter F. Hamilton's Night's Dawn Trilogy.

Hehehe hombre. Command and conquer was westwoods brand new RTS title. Building on their highly succesfull (and some say the very first RTS game ever) Dune 2

Dune kicks ass. Leto is the epitome of ninja in Children of Dune.
