I thought it was in reference to the story a few weeks ago about 2 guys who were caught with assault rifles on there way to shoot Obama.

Whether or not it is actually racist depends on the motivation for it. The motivation for it, however, is not at all clear from it.

Are they using Obama's picture because of his perceived stance towards the second amendment? Or did they use it because of the deep-seeded fear of black Americans that exists among many white Americans?

Someone explain to me how Obama expects to tighten gun laws when people sell the very weapons the fucking military use? You could form a bloody rebellion with that especially if you don't have to pass any safety tests or anything to buy this stuff.

Also, it's not racist, they're just hopping on the bandwagon of redneck fear, if it was racist they'd be saying things like "Buy now before the black man steals your guns!". Oh and I just want to point out to the posters, how is removing oppression against gays marrying exactly bad because that's the kind of viewpoint that will make people think your neo-cons and evangelicals too.

This is just as wrong as assuming that it is racist.

As I said, the motivation behind it is totally obscured. We can deduce a few possible reasons, but in the end, we have no clue unless we know the people who made the ad.

That's funny. Not the ad, but the fact that you and your friends thought that had anything to do with race. If you know anything about Obama aside from the fact that he is half black, you should know that he is likely to reinstate the assault rifle ban. The message of the ad is "buy them now before Obama makes them illegal to buy." It is not ambiguous at all.
