Ahh, I tried the game Mount & Blade and if Darkfall’s combat is anything like that then I am pretty much dead. One on one is OK but trying to killing multiple enemies is impossible for me. And don’t even talk about mounted combat. I never hit a single target. Well I guess I have to practice a lot to stand a chance in Darkfall.

It isn't that hard. It just takes a little practice. Especially the ranged combat.
Playing M&B right now. Great game. Would be awesome if DF combat is even nearly something like that.
Fighting is pretty easy. Also for fighting multiple enemys you best have:
1) Shield - absolutly nessesary if you dont have good armor
2) Soldiers on your side - then you can easely block attack from multiple enemys at once and kill them: just if got to many on you call your soldiers to assist you while oyu block attacks.
3) Heavy Plate - then can just take 2hander and bash in enemy crowd killing them with few strikes while taking little to none damage.
4) At begining, when you play alone, you have much better chances charging enemys on horse - riding near one of them hiting him on full galope, riding away, turning around, hiting a next one e.t.c So you basicaly 1 shot enemys, while they practicaly cant hurt you unless you stop.
Horseback riding is great, shooting from horse is even greater.
Its easy at arena alone to kill all enemys at all, if you can utilize your movement and blocking right. Movement speed is IMHO most vital skill , along with shield durability if you want survive a looong fights.
Utilise your ranged weapons - dont just rush on enemy crowd killing them. While you didnt master bow and xbow i suggest trowing weapons - they are extremely fast, easy to aim and effective. In mass combat you can shoot them without aiming at all just targeting on nearest enemy - unlike bows.
AND dont run around alone. Recruit and train army. The game is not designed for your to be Arnold Shwartznegger and kill them all.

Jesus Christ....have you been under a fucking rock? This shit has been posted 16 million times since 2004. GTFO noob. everyone knows about this! i cant believe you didn't die as a toddler...it amazes me that someone so stupid can even figure out how to post.
I am gonna save you some grief. kill yourself. slowly. in fact go to the local hardware store and buy some superglue and glass. crush the glass, cover your hands in glue and them stick them in the crushed glass. when thats done, masturbate until you bleed to death.

Get the throwing javelins. It's awesome to see them sticking out of the corpses.

You really do, because...
Mount and Blade was very easy imo
I would say it's nearly impossible to beat more than 2-3 people alone in melee, simply because the constant beating stuns you so often you can't retaliate. Even with the biggest shield and heaviest armour, you will go down if they can hurt you while you can't hurt them. Maybe there is some secret trick I haven't figured out though.
For mounted combat, do you use a coached polearm? If so, it's not so hard, just point the tip of your weapon against them and charge. Not so easy if they sidestep or shoot an arrow in your face right before you hit them, but practice helps.

After using horse archery for weeks, everything else, especially fighting on foot felt very slow and boring.
Mount&Blade is fun for a while but you run out of stuff to do and then you'll just get bored, at least i did. I hope that it had multiplayer.

Thats why i told that movement speed is probably the most important skill ingame. Fighting 3 people you block attacks with a shield, strafe aside, and theres usualy side of 1 or 2 enemys open - strike, shield, continue strafing changing directions - easy kills.

in DFO if 20 enemies are rushing you like that swinging wildly while you backpedal, theyll all be hitting each other.

I've only had problems doing 5+ against one. Anything less then that, and you should be able to pick one off at a time. Just back/side step, you block the other guys attacking you with the lead one. You can't back up as quick as they come forward, which is why you have to side step so you don't get hit, and change who is the lead blocker. It takes awhile, but not that hard.

Back in the day, the devs said the archery skill would be similar to Mount & Blade's, where the longer you hold it, the less accurate your shot gets.
Based on what we've seen so far, though, I'm not sure if that's still true.

Yeah, I maxed out athletics on my latest character, and in the start, stripped him of all armour, relying on javelins and hit and run melee attacks. Was quite fun until i met cavalry. That reminds me, the spears should really be more effective against horses.
