It seemed kind of fun. Good feature and a good class base fps game. Why blizzard cancelled it? Do you think they will try to do an other starcraft fps one day? We could be like anything we saw in starcraft rts when we play multiplayer.

Anyway, i blame wow because SCG was in dev phase from 2004-2005 and wow came out in 2005 i think.

they are already making too much money from WOTLK and decided they only need to release 1 horrible waste of time per year?

I enderstand that, but why they want to make diablo 3 over starcraft fps?

When i 1st saw diablo 3, i was like omg! and now that i think of it, i bet it will get boring very fast.

they should make a Planetside style SC game, theyd make a killing.

of course they never will. but even if they just made an SC game where you play as a marine, thatd still be pretty cool.

also, to the guy above me, D3 will make billions in Korea alone, theres definitely more cash in that than a totally new genre of game based on the SC strategy games

I thought they released it for console only.

It's because the game had been built from the ground-up for the last generation of consoles (PS2, GC, xbox), and there's no way in hell they were going to be ready to ship when those were still highly selling systems. By the same token they weren't about to scrap the graphics engine and start from scratch.

In the end they decided to move most (all?) of their console staff into other departments, namely focussing on WoW and other games which at the time hadn't even been announced, such as early work on Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2.

I'm personally still hoping for a new Lost Vikings game.

I think they should redesign it for PC. Fap fap fap.

I think they felt the game wasn't turning out the way they wanted it to and just decided to move on. Granted, last I heard the game was not officially 'cancelled', moreso no longer being worked on. They may come back to it eventually.

You mean SC2, right?

Not satisfied with it, or maybe because they wanted to focus on Starcraft 2?

I agree. They probably want to wait until they really are able to provide these graphics.

They did it because they knew you'd make this thread in the future, and didn't want to rob you of that joy.

They probably spent to many polygons on the characters ass and tits and found out they didn't have enough left to render the level.

The actual reason is because Blizzard does not continue to produce a game unless they feel it has, at least, a 10 year life span in the market. Most of their games (SC, Diablo, probably WoW) currently fit this bill, while a handful have lead a good life but may not still be popular come year 8/9/10 (Warcraft 3).

are you basing that solely on WoW? They are one of the few companies that still produce quality games.

that was the first of a bad precedent, we'll only really be able to tell what blizzard has turned into after sc2 and diablo 3.

I'm pretty sure this was before the purging of decency that occured in Blizzard, so I really doubt SC:G would have sucked. Why the hell is everybody bashing Blizzard, anyways? Blizzard created the standard for RPG's and RTS's back in the day.

If they were to make it seem as if you were a very small part of a very large war like Starlancer, Wing Commander, or CoD did, then I think it would have been cool, but more than likely you were a badass cigar chompin' Rambo who was going to mow through the Zerg hordes with a fifty cal in one hand and a flame thrower in the other...

I never thought Blizzard would stoop to such a level as to try to market a game with such things as gimmicks. I'll admit, it's quite a good tactic to try and rope people into playing their games, but I doubt it'll work--we all saw what happened with Age of Conan, who's to say that couldn't be Blizzard if they tried to do something like that?

Because they're the greediest bunch of pigs I've ever seen. They produce low-quality games and expect people to actually pay for them (World of Warcraft namely). They're designed to keep you playing as long as they can (Ex. Raising level caps, expansion with "uber" gear and whatnot). Moreover, they make them addicting as well, not only increasing the likeliness that you'll continue playing, but that you'll play again as well. They're not the standard, they're what we've settled for. They've taken the MMORPG market by the jewels in a time lacking any major MMORPGS, and setting the bar so low that we don't even seem to search for an alternative, we just settle for what we've got. Now that Darkfall has shown some of us what a MMORPG can truly become, we won't go back, and that is why we despise of Blizzard Entertainment, or at least why I do.
