I like how vbulletin is set up so I think I want to buy the license for it so i can get the forums. is this the right place to look? https://www.vbulletin.com/order/
i'm trying to buy real forums for my clan, not anything free, if anyone has any suggestions or anything to start me off i'd be much appreciative.

Forgive my web design ignorance, but dont people usually just buy the address (EG www.myguild.com) then just link it to a separate forum thingy?
I've seen a lot of good free forums, so hunt around. Maybe you can save some money.

Why not host the forums yourself? It's easy as pie, download phpBB from http://phpbb.com and xampp from http://apachefriend.org then start up xampp, and copy phpbb into the htdocs folder in the xampp folder. go to http://localhost/install.php and install the forums and you're all set, just to start making subforums in the admin panel.

vBulletin is very advanced and expensive and should only be considered if you are a very advanced user with need for a lot of customization.
I would rather suggest that you buy hosting instead of trying to host yourself, there are many good ones just google it. Usually costs around $5 per month for a decent one and if you pay for like 1 year usually you get a free domain with the deal. After you have a host I highly suggest phpBB (http://phpbb.com) as the guy above me, it has loads of mods, templates, easy to customize, easy to keep updated and yeah very nice, also free.
Good luck :)
(pm me if you need help ;) )

And if you have a webhost you might not even have to do that. Some hosts have built-in options to automatically set up phpbb forums on any domain/subdomain.
edit: so, super easy.
