You lie. Darkfall was infact started back in 1980. The original players and fans were waiting years for beta like us. And then it came. And when the loading screen popped up and they logged in..they all died mysteriously. And thus Aventurine's plan was successful and they restarted it once again to rake in tens of thousands of more victims. Their plans however were noticed barely by Swedish authorities so they moved their organization from Sweden to Greece because infact the Grecian government is the leading figure in world domination.

The opposite could easily be argued. We know the join dates is what beta selection will/might go by, so why bother to lie? I actually have no idea when I first started following this game in earnest and read all the articles. If I had to guess, maybe a month or two tops before my join date? Prior to that it was likely one of those "It's not out for years who cares" moments, or "VAPORZ LOL" :p.

Regardless, we'll all be playing by the end of the year in the dev's master plan, so it doesn't seem to matter much anymore.

In the early years devs actually posted in regular threads and people made REAL contributions to this game. So people had a meaningful dialog with the fair and honest devs. Someone(Olemak) even had his dungeon design implemented into the game because of this.

So the difference between someone who joined in 08 which isn't even finished yet is that they post a lot of useless bullshit spam that doesn't mean jackshit anymore in the hope they can boost their postcount to look cool, is easily made!

No they don't.
When I was a community manager I could still see everyone's join dates, even if you couldn't see your own.
So they don't have to turn join date on at all to view it. They probably have a list of "user name - join date" on the server somewhere anyway

I really don't care about the join dates. I earlier had another account but then stopped being at the forums and then came back (check my join date ^^).
I remember the days of the join date and the Rama scream when they were removed...that was the fun days...
But if you come with intelligent posts and not just "troll" the forum then you will have all the respect you should have even from the "long term followers"
