Hellgate failed.

That is all.

Seems like it is closing its doors. What brings me to the questions, why so many mmorpgs, which close, do not drop their licenses and allow people to do freeshards.

I'm sorry for your pain. I signed on and played for ten minutes. I decided long before the end that it wasn't worth playing.

It sounded like such a good concept. Did I just not give it enough of a chance?

I played it for about 6 hours. It just didnt have enough depth, a problem I am often bumping into alot with my games. Farcry 2 and Fallout 3 are both lacking in my opinion.

Hellgate: London has fans?

Hehe. I liked it, at least hard core elite mode was entertaining. The game had a LOT of problems, but had a good concept if flagship hadn't fucked it up so much. They prided themselves as old members of Blizzard who helped make Diablo, but I guess they were the janitors or something or the ones who cleaned the shit out of the toilets.

Namco/Hanibisoft or whoever owns the Hellgate IP now, may be able to turn it around. But with the real Diablo-3 coming out who cares anyways.

Hellgate: London will be continued in South Korea, they'll release an expansion too.

Wonder if they'll allow for emulators to pop up afterwards.

Might be playable if some good modders can get their hands on it.

It was less Bill's fault than a total lack of cash to develop the game. To be honest, it played a lot better back in alpha before they had to start trying to rush it out the door so desperately.

Still, I enjoyed Mythos more.

Regarding Fall Out 3...

Try reading if you want depth, cause I found plenty of it. Sorry if the game doesn't lead you by the hand through a entirely linear story line and that isn't your cup of tea. But this should have come as NO surprise when purchasing the game.

Forget the story line, I enjoy the quests there fun, the story behind them is nice. Depth as in what you can do in the game is what I mean. The choices you make have some way of deciding what happens in the game, but its no baldurs gate choice game. Melee is as about as useless as it gets, guns are where its at. Even oblivion had more depth when it came to what your character could do in any situation.

I want more choice than sneak into a room, press V, click twice. Its an infuriating FPS that removes your own skill with an accuracy value that doesnt make much sense, I can max out my small guns, stand so close my gun sticks out the other side of his head, and still only get 95% and miss... What could of made it a deeper game for me? More choice of companions/Melee matter some more/something different from simply ripping a base to pieces. I,E, talking your way through.

or, i dunno, NO FUCKING INVISIBLE WALLS THAT FORCE YOU TO TAKE THE GOD DAMN SUBWAY.

at least if you are going to have artificial barriers, make the piles of debris in such a way that you wouldnt be able to climb over them even if there wasnt an invisible wall. "Oh, i better take the subway because i cant make it over this one" woul piss me off a lot less than "Oh, you have to take the subway because we are full of shit when we say you can do it however you want"

as it is, the only reason i couldnt walk to Rivet City was because of the wall, i made it up and over the mountain of debris and was about to escape the army of ants (which btw i didnt have the ammo to fight, and my AK was about to break), only to discover the fucking invisible wall.

thats fucking stupid, dont claim its an open world if its not.

at least release the editor so i can fix your broken promises, assholes.

melee is useless, but at least its fun lining up the bodies of m enemies after i clear an area and dismembering tem with my sword, and making a pyramid with their heads. also, the bodies and parts dont seem to dissapear this time, which is a definite improvement over Oblivion. all in all, with an editor released, this game would be a must buy, but as it is its nothing special, just like Oblivion.

if they stop releasing editors with their "open world games" then i wont waste my money on them anymore, unfortunately, theyll probably continue to make a killing, and not go back to releasing the editors.

Yes recently many games have been disappointing.I heard of hellgate londong closing like a week an half ago on fudzilla.Pretty sad for those who spent hours on there chracters.Lately i have been having the same feeling for age of conan. This means that i would loose my 2 lvl 69 characters. And YES they are both lvl 69.

Well at least red alert 3 was good.
Farcry is good an i am liking it.
Yet to try fallout.
Hope that GTA IV pc is good.
Cod:WOW is the same old story.Still have to check the single player co-op.
Left 4 dead seems awesome. (Omg tomorrow demo gogo)

And a couple of other games like clancy:endwar , empire total war etc. O well.

or, i dunno, NO FUCKING INVISIBLE WALLS THAT FORCE YOU TO TAKE THE GOD DAMN SUBWAY.

Invisible walls do indeed suck, but I'd be happier if the game didn't break when doing the plot in the Jefferson Memorial. I got to the part where I had to turn the valve to clear the pipes, when the enclave came in. Any attempt to go through the grate, crashes within seconds. I do have about 400 saves chronicling my adventures back to lvl 1, but since I'm level 20 already, questing feels pretty pointless.

Started a new game as a survivalist type on very hard, just running around the wastes, having a ton of fun with that.

If you melee without using VATS you can manually aim and do precise locational damage, just like the firearms. I don't see why they removed the choices of hit boxes from melee VATS, what the hell was the point of that?

Another one falls to the potential might of DARKFALL RULING the computer world.

I used capital letters on "darkfall" and on the word "ruling", so that they would appear more important then the other content of my post. Wich is, in my opionion, very much the case. However I did not intend to discriminate any of the other words in my post, nor did I wish to offend any of the members of the forumfall community by posting the previous. In fact all that I wanted to show to the darkfall communitiy, was my enthusiasm for the upcoming release of darkfall. In fact that is the only reason why anyone should be using this forum. Again, no offence. May I add that I am not fully responsible for anything I post, for I did not design the smiley's in my post. All typing errors are accidental, none of wich contain secret messages or encrypted codes (encrypted codes isnt that double?).

Yes! Up yours hellgate!

You know what? What's disturbing is that actually hellgate london wasn't even an MMORPG to begin with, they began loading up advertisements and then plonked the monthly fee on it just to turn it into a pretend MMORPG.

Seems like more and more developers are planning to do that these days, assholes.
