I'm still not convinced he was guilty. All the jury did, was prove they believed politicians are all liers. They never saw evidence that proved Stevens actually lied.

Well, yah. Can't argue with that. I'm shocked the man can still shake someone's hand, without his own falling off.
Isnt that an improvement from Palin?

People are idiots. My understanding is that the teacher's union and other groups were saturating the airwaves with messages about how every critical program the state government is responsible for maintaining will crumble without a state income tax. Still, for that to be spamming across TV and radio day-in, day-out and have three out of ten people still come out and vote to repeal the tax by 2010 is pretty impressive.

Yup, i mean i knew about the teachers union, that was old news, by my guess it was across the board of fear mongering.

I'm gonna have to concur with the disbelief at this result. 99% reporting and Stevens has won by 4,000 votes. He was convicted by a bipartisan panel. It wasn't as if-y that he's guilty as some would like to believe. It's amazing that he won.

Not suprising to me. We are talking about a back woods state with a total population of 670,000 (and half are one generation away from living in an igloo) - and they did elect Palin as govenor right?

We do that in Louisiana regularly.

second person i have heard say that. It was good they voted no, it was wicked bad for state employees and property taxes would go through the roof. Living in a town with extremely high taxes this could pose a problem.

Anyone want to put wagers on whether or not Palin picks herself to replace Stevens when he is ousted?
Since Palin gets to pick "Anyone" to replace the ousted Senator when he is "Convicted" formally and sentenced to prison. She will have the option to pick herself.
She will then go to Washington, and for 4 years get indoctrinated into a more mainstream role, because 4 more years in backwoods Alaska wont help her in the rest of the states. Lining her up for the 2012 election.
My 2cp.
Best,
Phae
