The tale & life of Camthylion Seroh'noth of Mirendel.

Camthylion was born near the city of Charybdis near the Irthan river where he is son too a proud noble Elf, Hallowyn whom resides as a high captain for the republic of Mirendel. His mother Saralinde is a decended from the House Kha'vhe. Tailors whom own a shop & factory where grand ballroom dresses, scarfs, gloves & garments of all sorts for Elven nobles of Mirendel are sown. As a small boy Camthylion was often taken by the art of war & adventure but mostly by feel of the sword... he would stand and gaze out his family's citadel tower window, where he practiced with his blade which he snuck from his fathers room every eve. From his tower he could watch the soliders of Mirendel practice in the barrack courtyard. He could only dream of the day he could take up his blade to serve his father and lead a legion of Mardian on a glorious conquest.

Yet his parents had other plans for him they wished him to be an Elf Lord on the council and live as a weathly noble within Charybdis but Camthylion had no interest in that life. His parents knew this and that one day soon there small child would grow into a man and seek to learn the mastery's of the Mirdain sword. Camthylion only knew one true friend he could entrust his secret desires with, his cousin Meaglan Arcamenel... He and Meaglan often practiced the art of sword play in secret together, and dreamed of the day of becoming a sword bearer of Mirendel. In there younger years these two were never saw apart in public, both fathers were undaunted fighters who wanted more from there sons then to become a hired swordsman. Yet as they grow into young adults their paths grew slowly apart, Camthylion spent his days and most of his nights at the libary learning as much as he could about Mirdain lore and Agon and what journeys lay in wait for him, untill finaly the day came and Camthylion was no longer the child of yesterday but a healthly young man. One morning when his father sat in his study waiting to start the day, Camthylion walked through the door - Father I have come to ask... before he could finish his sentence Hallowyn stoped him. (clearing his throat) "Yes Camthylion I know what it is you seek." "You do father?" Camthylion asked. "Yes.. you seek adventure and the life as a lieutenant in the explorer regiment." Camthylion was fairly shocked that his father really knew what he wanted... "Father my sword is ready to serve Mirendel I have practiced and studied the art of warfare and conquest for many moons now." "Yes I know you have my son, but what you ask... I don't know if I can agree with such a request." "Father I wish to serve under you and learn from you and defeat the Mirendel foes at your side."
His father paused for a moment, in his mind he knew if he granted the request Camthylion would see conflict and war in the front of battle and he could find certain death. Hallowyn Sighed... then he said with a disapointed tone, "I always thought you to be a wise Elven Lord... the one that gave out marching orders the one that set the laws for our land." " No, father you didn't you have always known who am I. This request is who I am... I believe the Gods have willed it my destiny to become a great leader for Mirendel." Hallowyn looked over his shoulder to his son . "Very well, if this is your will, if it is the will of the God's let it be so, on the morrow I will make ready your quarters and have my smiths prepare your armor. You request will be sent to Sirthas Dragonshield, untill then please see to preparing your self for what lies ahead."

That eve and on into the night Camthylion couldn't find any rest the excitement was to great for him he spent the next 2 nights walking around King's Holdfast... he wondered what would be awaiting him... he was excited but at the same time he was nervous. He didn't know if his feelings were pushing him to the right things, maybe his father was right maybe he should remain in Mirdendel and become a member of the council? No, he thought this is the life I have set out to make for my self & I am to close to give it up now. The next morning his father sent word for him, the messenger arrived and told Camthylion the news.
Camthylion was overwelmed he quickly packed his things... Saralinde knew it was finaly that time, her son had grown and is finaly setting out on his own... so torn up all she could do is just watch him and wave good-bye. Camthylion saddled his mare and rode off to the Nagast outpost to meet his father.

Upon arriving he seen war tents and at least 2,000 Mirdain men at arms at the outpost encamped. He dismounted and walked into the outpost where he found his father counsling Sirthas - "I know Sirthas but he is my son he is but a boy still." "Hallowyn you sent me the request to invade Nagast and the request for a new Lieutenant and we will need all the extra officers for this invasion." Camthylion walked into the room - "Ahh.. Camthylion your father and I were just talking about you, come over here and join us." What is it you are conducting here Sirthas?" "Your father has found a cavern not too far from here which hides a host of Alfar priests whom have been luring Mirendel people into worshiping there false God and we have arrived to cease this threat." Camthylion thought hmm this is my chance too prove to myself to my father! "Sirthas I wish to lead the company into the caverns." "No," said Hallowyn "we already have a more seasoned Lieutenant whom has been ordered too dispatch these Alfar..." " But Father I am ready for this and I wish to lead this company!" " You will stand down Camthylion" replied Hallowyn. Sirthas spoke up - "At ease Captian, Camthylion if you think you are ready for this then you may acompany Telamar within the Caverns to assist. You may even learn a thing or two." "Yes sir replied Camthylion I am ready." " Very well go ahead and meet Telamar and his party at the entrance." Camthylion suited up in Mirendil armor and as he was gearing up he seen a strange sword beside his armor... hmm this isn't my sword he thought, so he reached and pick it up but to find his name was on the hilt, and a message engraved into the blade it reads: Amin khiluva lle a' gurtha ar' thar - I will follow you to death & beyond. Camthylion knew his father had made him this sword... such a fine sword. The blade was almost too sharp to touch, the sword was very lightweight, & beautifully hand crafted, it was all silver trimed in gold with 3 diamonds on the hilt. Camthylion was proud of his sword but he quickly went back to puting on all of his armor on and then headed out to meet Telamar.

As he emerged from his tent he heard a loud sound, loud as thunder he quickly jogged up the hill side and looked below near the tunnel entrance... He seen a great red dragon! HUGE! and he seen that his fellow men were trying to crush the beast, Camthylion quickly ran down too join them, the dragon was very strong & very cunnning, also it was 2x the size of a normal dragon... this beast had too have been summoned forth by the Alfar priests... the Mirendil fought against the beast and it slew Elf after Elf... they stabed it with spears casting spell after spell on the beast but nothing ... will this beast never tire!? It was a little over an hour of fighting when the beast did it. It finaly released and fell lifeless to the ground. The Mirendil sighed in relief, but they lost alot of men in this fight near half... tired from the battle the men sat to rest when they heard a loud horn echo over the valley! Hallowyn knew the sound of that horn... "Make yeselves ready men, the Alfar army approachs!"
Sirthas had left just before the fire dragon had appeared and there was no time to catch him to rally reinforcements. After the battle with the dragon only 1100 Mirendil were left standing and half of them were exhausted. Hallowyn knew they had to make a stand here and now. Retreating wasn't an option at this point... with tired and injured men and all their belongings in the camp they would never make it if they fled. "Aramir!" Hallowyn shouted "Where is my scout?!" "Here sir!" "Aramir I need you to scout the incoming Alfar and get the number of there ranks and which way they are approaching..." "Yes sir!" Hallowyn walked up the hill to the outpost and found Camthylion resting upon the stool inside with Telamar... "Father how many Alfar approach?" " I do not know at this time, a scout has been dispatched he will return shortly." Moments went by as they thought of their plans for attacking the Alfar... just then the scout approached - "Sir I have the report!" "Yes, yes Aramir what have you seen!?" " Sir there are at least 4,000 Alfar and they are but moments away from us... they are being led by Ethar Ghostshroud the Shadow Raider...."

Hallowyn thought for a moment... 4,000 is a great number, he worried about Camthylion and what might happen this day, and he knew he couldn't let Camthylion flee it would dishearted the men, he also knew Camthylion wouldn't consider flee'ing even if his father asked .... a pause went on within the outpost doors... then Camthylion stood up and said - "Aramir rally the men, form ranks spears and sheilds to the front we shall make our stand here and now." "Yes Sir!" ... "My son... I must be honest with you the Alfar out number us by a great deal we are regrettably out matched and out numbered.. Ghostshroud only commands the most Elite that Nagast has to offer." Camthylion replied "Then we shall have to fight twice as hard..." "Very well his father replied." Nomore words were spoken.

Hallowyn, Camthylion & Telamar left the officers quarters and greeted their men outside whom had already fell into formation and were geared up for battle. Hallowyn rallied forth his troops and gave them a minor speech for what was too come this day - "Fellow Mirendil hear me!... the Alfar approach in great numbers with many blades and they have set there eyes on this outpost. We have no reinforcements we have noway to retreat most of you are far to tried to try such a feat... the Alfar will be upon us within moments, I can only say this too you... Every Kin here who is able to travel has the right to walk away! I myself will stay to defend our wounded, & our honor... No Alfar shall push me from what I have claimed this day unless it be, taken from my cold hands... I have seen many battles and most of you here have also... I ask that you see one more with me, we shall fight by each others side, we shall stand one and all and show these lesser Alfar what real warriors are made of! Are you with me!?" Shouts and yells and cheers of hope echoed among the men! Just then the Alfar horn sounded again as they approached from the east. Four thousand strong you could hear there plate metal clashing together as they marched in order toward battle... Camthylion became somewhat nervous... his father looked at him - "Father I feel sick..." "The smell of battle has that effect on you the first few times... I still get it from time too time... it's the butterflies most everyone gets them at first they will pass with time." Hallowyn put his hand on Camthylions shoulder - "Son... I am proud of you... you turned out to be a great and noble man, your mother and I will always be proud of you and support you in anything you decide to do." "Yes, I know father but why do you tell me this here & now?" " Camthylion the odds this day are not upon our side... son I must tell you something here and now! listen to me and listen well... if this battle turns and we begin to lose greatly... the horses are on the otherside of the hill I want you too find one and RIDE AS FAST AS YOU CAN BACK TO MIRENDIL!... "Father I will not.." " SON! this is no time to argue with me these Alfar did not come here to shake hands and make peaceful trades... they came here for blood! our blood and if they catch you they will surely kill you because of who you are or give you up to melek for a blood ritual. Camthylion this is real! listen to me & heed my words." Camthylion looked at his father and noded his head but inside he didn't agree with running away let alone running away to leave his father behind...

The Alfar formed ranks and made ready their weapons they were almost in archer distance... moments passed - the Alfar came closer and Hallowyn gave the order for the archers to fire on his command. "Archers! ready your arrows! ... make ready! ... FIRE AT WILL!" The Alfar marched towards the Mirendil lines, as the precise Mirendil arrows took the lifes of the Alfars very swiftly. Just then the Alfars came into charging distance... "Archers make ready your swords! Swordsman! Draw STEEL! all ranks make ready for a charge!" The Alfar steadily approached for about 10 secs then Hallowyn gave the order - "BREAK RANKS! CHARGE! ..."

In a swarm both sides broke ranks and charged each other... the yells and the sounds of the heavy plate metal beating the ground was loud as thunder! Camthylion's throat was now dry, his heart beating like a drum, he thought so this is what the real thing is all about ? Just then STEEL CLASHED AGAINST STEEL! the Alfar and Mirdain were engaged in battle... the Mirdain were very heavily outnumbered. Hallowyn was shouting orders over the ranks to push through the front lines to there mages and healers standing in the middle! the Mirdain pushed with all they had... they fought hard yet they were still dying quickly! Hallowyn seen this and thought we need to fall back out of the open... then he seen the caves that the alfar were in earlier... he thought there must be another side if the Alfar priests had escaped, if so maybe I could send Camthylion through to the other side! ... Hallowyn shouted too his Sargents "Fall back too the Caverns!" fallback now!"... the orders passed through the ranks of the men... they fellback to the gates of the caverns, then Hallowyn shouted "Hold them here men!!" the sargents recalling
Hallowyns orders over the crowd, "HOLD THE ALFAR HERE MIRDAIN!" Hallowyn saw Camthylion near the front engaged... he began to panic! Quickly pushing through to reach his son! Telamar saw the Captain coming and knew what he was coming for, "Camthylion" Telamar also pushed through to reach Camthylion just then an Alfar saw Camthylions rank and saw him fighting in the front the Alfar quickly pointed him out too Elthar Ghostshroud his commander... Elthar saw Camthylion and pushed through towards him. Ghostshroud is a very well rounded fighter his skills were almost unmatched among swordsmen... Elthar engaged Camthylion... Camthylion found out quickly that he was out matched! Desperatly he started trying everything he knew on Elthar but he was just too powerful for him... Camthylion was tiring and Elthar saw this and pushed the battle harder on Camthylion... Camthylion fell too the ground his sword his father had given to him fell to the dirt as well... trying to crawl back through the lines, Elthar was coming with his sword raised towards Camthylions back just then Telamar shoulder blocked Elthar against the cavern wall!! Eltar was angry now he grabed back up his sword and engaged Telamar... Telamar who was skilled with his blade and shield couldn't match Elthar... within moments Elthar snatched the life from Telamar pushing his blade into Telamars Chest! Hallowyn was just reaching Camthylion when he saw Telamar fell in battle! Hallowyn helped up his son and looked at him, Camthylion was exhausted his body was battle worn - "Son you must escape through the back of the cavern this battle is all but finished the Alfar are too many for us they are too strong, quick grab your sword and flee!" Camthylion tries to speak "No boy be silent now is no time for words! you must flee!" (Elthar saw Hallowyn talking to Camthylion off to the side of the battle and quickly moved in to engage) "Quick Camthylion get up and FLEE... GO NOW!" Camthylion got to his feet and started to slowly jog into the darkness of the caverns. Hallowyn engaged Elthar and they fought like lions the battle swaying back and forth between the two sword masters... the Mirdain ranks were falling fast they were down to about 150 men! Hallowyn seen this and had worry in his eyes... is this my time? Will I die here? Will I ever see my wife and son again!? Will I ever have grand children?! All these thoughts were rushing through his mind like the wind through ones hair. Before Hallowyn knew it all was but lost, he and the last remaining Mirdain were all that reamained... "I have been beaten, do with me what you will but I ask that you let my men go Elthar." "Kill them and burn the bodies, take the captain prisoner we shall send him before Melek for judgement!"

More to come one day ;)

Your not kidding. I will finish reading later and post my thoughts. Two paragraphs is all I could do for the night I am afraid. It's not your story but I am tired. :(
