I looked into this at one point, and scientists say that the magnetic shift of the poles actually occurs over thousands of years. Yeah, it takes thousands of years to happen, Earth always adapts to it very slowly. There will be no sudden BAMMM OMFG OUR AXIS JUST SHIFTED !!! And having our solar system, according to cosmologists, passing through the median of the galaxy will also have an insignificant affect on our planet. Actually i am reading a book called 2012, the return of Queztacoatl. It is a really interesting read but it says that 2012 on the mayan calender was when their god, Queztacoatl returned and would help mankind. The author says 2012 may signal the end of the world but it more likely means that we will change in our thinking and the way we see the world.
