We don't know 100%
Furthermore, dmg meters are merely parsing the combat log
----
I'm all in favour of customizable interface, In almost every mmo I've played, I've changed the interface. Moreover, if DarkFall allowed 0 custom written UI then it will be YEARS behind in terms of game standard. Also, there are no fucking addons that plays the game for you and even if there were then they would stop working after a hotfix and the users would get banned.

every game has add ons because there is always something some one wants or doesnt like. so I say there will be add ons just don't know how long after release they will pop up

I personally like custom user interfaces. Especially custom hotbar ui. Gotta shape my hotbars into my Nostromo n52te game pad! I vote for Addons.

in athens full video , we saw that when the orc was in fight with goblin in the left down corner the screen flood with combat logs.
they said that was in debugging mode the executable but i think is easy to implement a chat channel with combat logs.
you can see the video in my site

That's a different thing though.
I just hate to see DF take the WoW route, where it's pretty much mandatory to install a zillion addons in order to be able to "compete".

the thing is though combat add ons will do very little since the combat ystem is so unique there is a thread somewhere discussing how combat addons would not help anyone

Do you have a link to that thread?
And hm, well I'll decide about the uniqueness of something when I've actually seen it. :P

no, there wont be any custom add-ons. the file that is readily to the public in other mmos will be made private in darkfall. all the ui customization for df will be done within the game
edit: as last statement heard from the devs

Depending on how good the default interface is, I'm going to use a custom GUI so hopefully addons will be possible.

The devs have stated that third-party programs will not be tolerated. This includes add-ons. Marlen had it right.

Add-ons like threat meter, no. And btw, that addon wasnt in the default UI for WoW, Blizzard just added that cuz so many people used it.
However, I would like the ability to change the skins and layout of the UI, cuz sometimes default is just so ugly =P

Fantastic! I'm so happy to hear this, it's made me so much more eager for the game.
I was dreading having to update add-ons just to stand a chance.
Auto-target and auto-attack are out of date, please update to Version. 1.3463.45.221.454.23.567B.
Thank you for removing this type of hassle from the game.

The need for addons is nonexistent anyways; the UI is fully customizable (as partially shown in Shaar's video.
Guess i'll be banned pretty fast as I found those player frames to be disgusting and will be customizing as soon as I see the folder and coding layout. No UI modding is just lame. I dont care what you say about warcraft the one thing it had good for it was custom mods. You didnt need them to "Be able to compete" if you think that you obviously didnt know how to play. Certain mods should be illegal but I dont think the bias on the few bad apples should fuck the idea as a whole. 3rd party app = MMOGlider. Mods = Custom layouts using settings already applied within the darkfall client itself just re-written to look or display different settings.

I'm in favor of having no addons.
As stated before, the UI is fully customizable. There won't be a need for a threat-meter, the AI in Darkfall is unique. Furthermore, the whole idea behind the sandbox ideology is to add reality and immersion to the game. I'm fully against addons that will give an option to some users to automate this game.
Ideally, I'm assuming the game has been designed so that it won't require any aid from addons.

i hope that the ui is good enough so we dont need any custom addons. but i guess they cant prevent players from using them

If addons only change the looks its ok to have them. But if they affect the gameplay like wow they shouldn't be there. A small list of must have addons of wow:
Enemy casting bar(before it was implemented by blizzard)
Target of target(again before it was implemented by blizzard)
Nature enemy cast bar(shows the opponents cooldowns)
An arena mod I don't remember the name(shows the life of all your opponents in arena and when they cast)
A focus mod(shows what your focus target does so you can interrupt him while targetting someone else)
These are some of the addons that give great advantage to the players that use them over the others. This crap should stay out of DF.

hope not...stupid quest helpers. The point of the game is to do things yourself, explore things, etc, not to have a bot find it for you and instant mark it on map.

hassle? you must be retarded
When I played WoW, my addon folder was about 120MB big and I had loads of addons. 99.9% of those addons were there for aesthetical reasons, I had changed EVERYTHING to my liking. Same goes for Anarchy Online, AoC, WAR, LOTRO, EQ2. In EQ2 I even changed the code in ProfitUI so that it would suit me better

This.
UI is fine. Addons that you MUST install in order to be on an even playing field? Fuck that. If you can't play the game without training wheels, then you suck and shouldn't be playing (or you can play and just be fodder for those that CAN play).
Addons are for pansies.
