I guess they got alot done with the professional testers. They have said that Beta will only be a stress test/playtest. I will reserve judgement until I see the game on my PC.

Beta for this game will not be long, nor would I think it need to be... DF has been in the work for YEARS now. The only way it shouldn't be about finished and polished is if its actually vapor and they never worked on it...

I doubt this game is "untested", they just did not trust their community to adequately test it, and as a Forumfall regular I cant blame them.

Using an open beta test to find bugs isn't the smartest decision. Really, 99% of public playtesters (including myself) just want an early just at the game. They're unreliable, unprofessional, and certainly don't give a fuck.

Nah, those people aren't part of the community. Instead, what they could do is say anyone who joined before member number 70k doesn't get beta, and anyone who has more than 1k post count doesn't get beta. Then do the bit where they implement everything the testers say.
