The following story documents the founding of the Killer Rabbit Co. (henceforth known as K.R. Co.). The information provided is best to the knowledge and word of mouth history of the Ezari and Orn clans as well as many of the citizens, members and officers who have provided the K.R. Co. with documentation from their personal archives.
The Beginning
No one quite remembers exactly how the founding fathers met, however, stories tell that the Mahirim Kah’na Ezari, and his Ork counterpart Dug Orngul we scouting a Dwarf encampment somewhere within the boundaries of Dvergheim, it was here that Kah’na was attacked by a sizable military regiment of the Dwarven army. Fighting bravely to save his life, he took one down, then another, moments passed and had slain a number of them, however, the sheer numbers of the Dwarves overtook him, it was evident that Kah’na was going to perish. The Ork, Dug, hiding behind a rock on a hillside watched with disbelief how this Mahrim took one Dwarfs’ life after another, and when the tide began to turn towards the side of the Dwarves, Dug joined the fray in order to save this brave warriors life. Together they vanquished their foes, and while feasting over rations and Dwarf limbs in celebration of their great victory, they saw a white rabbit, covered in the dwarves’ blood hopping around innocently.
Impressed by each other’s ability on the battlefield they decided to forge an alliance to counter the Dwarf threat. Initially this alliance manifested itself in the exchange of information on various Dwarven military operations, however, as the contact between the tribes grew, so did trade, commerce, the exchange of ideas, and goods.
Within a few years both tribes were seeing increased wealth, goods and a standard of living from their trading operations, and in a meeting that took place on the site of their first encounter with the Dwarves, they decided to form a military and economic company in order to increase both their presence in the region. In order to celebrate the newly formed company, the tribes threw a joint feast which ran long into the following day, and when the two, Kah’na and Dug, long tired from the festivities, recollecting stories and laughing about their battles, adventures, and the general inanity of the Dwarves, they saw the white rabbit again. Perhaps it was another white rabbit, but like the first this one too had blood covering its snout and legs.
This image, of the sole hare, is where the name of the company comes from; it was as if the single animal had disposed of the entire military regiment, and was there again at the founding of the company. This was 287 years ago.
In Due Course
In due course, the KR Co. began to expand its operations to Yssam, where they would gather resources, tropical timber, spices and fruits, Niflheim, providing the Norsemen with valuable supplies to build their ships, They would raid both Rubiyat for its rich spices, and trading in Aernar artefacts from Cairn, trading them with the other tribes of Morak and the Tribelands.
During this period, or as some call it, the Golden Era of the K.R. Co. (-271 to – 113) the company amassed great wealth, armadas of ships, that they would sail into the human lands of Mercia, and those of the Mirdians, often attacking and raiding seaside villages for profits, slaves, and the such. The company had grown strong, and had decided to build a capital on an undisclosed tropical island; the riches from its operations would go towards provisions of a better life for all Orks and Mahirim involved with the K.R. Co.
The island was acquired, and the city build, in one night the members left their lands, and headed for this paradise provided by the K.R. Co., and what the company offered was true. Schools of the utmost quality, food plenty, large living spaces for all, and the streets lined with gold, the city was named after the founding fathers Orngul-Ezaria, their statues lining the streets of the magnificent city, and in the centre, the statue of the white rabbit, made of ivory, its eye encrusted with the largest of ruby’s; this city a leading intellectual, cultural, and economical capital. Within years, the influence of Orngul-Ezaria spread, and Kah’nia, New Ezaria, Orngulia, Duglandia, along with smaller outposts being founded on the shores of Agon. The city soon became an Empire, named after it’s capital Orngul-Ezaria, and ran every other generation by the direct heir to either Kah’na or Dug. Em
The Crisis and Downfall
The Spring of -113 however saw a number of factors arise which combined led to an eventual downfall of the Company, and Empire. On one hand internal power struggles within the Ezari and Orngul clans created political strife within the ruling class, Bath’al Ezari, whose twin brother, Bath’el Ezari was Emperor figured the throne should have been rightfully his, and in a secret meeting with Flka Orngul, the step child of the former kind, decided to overthrow the current regime, including the direct descendent of Dug, who had just taken seat as president of the K.R. Co. As luck would have it, the plot came off without failure, and the two imposed themselves as Emperor and President.
In turn, the company, backed by the country’s finances had lent heavily to support their military operation on the mainland of Agon, to push further into the lands of the other races. With this large expenditure from the empire’s coffers, and the political upheaval in Orngul-Ezaria led to morale failure among many citizens of the empire, including the Company’s and the Empire’s armed forces. The other races saw their turn to disenfranchise the once powerful empire, and together assembled a vast armada to look for the hidden capital.
A series of wars and battles were fought between the Orngul-Ezarians and the other races on land and at sea, each one weakening the power of the Company. In -76, the internal struggles worsened and a full-scale war between those aligned with Flka, Bath’al and the remaining patriots to the old ways, was waged within the city, each fighting to gain a foothold in the senate and put forth a new Emperor, one whose power would be supreme over both country and corporation. A once shining example of modernity, prosperity and culture was torn down from within, the external wars had devastated the Empire and Company’s resources, and the raging civil war left the land in ruin. When the other races finally arrived at Orngul-Ezaria, in the Spring of 44, they saw no longer a thriving civilization, but two tribes, Orks and Mahirim bloodily engaged in a war that had left them now with nothing. Hating both the races the far superior forces of the mainland exterminated with great diligence any and all of our fallen brethren, only those who fought on the side of the patriots, seeing the inability of the others after everything had already lain in ruin survived.
They withdrew form the war for power, taking the last of the intact scripts, documents, and learning’s from the annals of the great Orgul-Ezari library, and left.
The time is now
Moving back to the mainland, the ancestors of this once great empire moved back to their respective racial capitals, meeting in secret over the past forty years, planning and devising a strategy to once again rebuild the Killer Rabbit Company, to what it once was, a global corporation, strong, and a leader of the free peoples of Mahirim and Ork lineage, unbridled in strength, and bound by all means to get there.
“There is no good or evil my friends, there is only power, and the power that belonged to our ancestors before they lost they way shall be ours once again. It is our manifest destiny; it is our time again to take over Agon, one bite at a time. Join or ally with us and prosper, fight us, and relegate yourself to the annals of history.”
That was the closing statement of the last living Ezari of the true lineage, and with him, his Ork counterpart, stood up, and said “Brothers, countrymen, to build what was once fallen, we must create wealth, we must rebuild our armies, we must do what our forefathers did, and we must do it better, the time is now. Destiny is on our side.”
And the board council had stood up, clapping their hands, a young Dwarfling child was brought into the room, slaughtered, and a white rabbit placed upon her innards.
May the Killer Rabbit Company rise again! :ninja:
