Stargate Atlantis is a follow on SCIFI show from Stargate SG1 which was a follow on from the movie Stargate :P
Basically there is gates around various planets in various galaxys that can be used to create wormholes to travel through... Alot of badass aliens and you get the picture its cool.

How did the original Asgard get destroyed anyway? Until this episode I thought they were still out there somewhere in the background. What killed off Thor and company?
Btw these rogue Asgard are too gimp to be substantial in the storyline.
The focus will probably return to the wraith since Todd got pissed and broke off the alliance. Or some new threat that will pop out of nowhere...or hell maybe the new Asgard will be big, hard to guess this kind of shit.
All we can know for sure is that they will have to be very creative to keep the series fresh...I think they're running out of good ideas.

Well you learn something new everyday :-) you should watch the movie and if you like it start from Season one of SG-1 IMO its the best scifi show around.

The Ori where tracking the Asgard technology and had plotted a course to their home world. As the Asgard allready knew they where a dieng race due to the complications they had genetically they decided to destroy them selves and they gave all their technology to Earth :) that's how the earth ships are loaded with Asgard technology hehe very nice.
I think it's great they brought the Asgard back into the show but I dont think these are going to be Allies as for the wraith 5 series in and they havent even came close to wiping them out.
As for a new threat did you see the daedalus variations episode they met a kick ass enemy in that similar to the borg from Startrek and wow you would think by now earth would have a decent amount of ships built.

I thought the Asgard died by blowing up their planet when the last of the replicators in the Milky War were about to attack. I distinctly remember them going out with a big bang and taking out the replicators with them.

Nope they created a weapon to disrupt the replicators back to little pieces when O'Niell gets the ancient knowledge Thor makes a giant version and they use the robot from Menace to lure them all to a planet and then Thor uses the weapon to wipe out the replicators.
They destroyed there planet commiting mass suicide to stop their technology getting taken by the Ori.

If by OP you mean Original Poster the answer is no I do not use P2P.
I got the boxset of SG-1 for christmas and I bought seasons 1-5 over the last few months of Atlantis.
Sky + helps with the latest episodes :)

True they haven't wiped out the Wraith, but I'm skeptical because it seems like they've done all they can do with Wraith, as far as original concepts. They've fought hive ships, usurped the Wraith queen, and even had an alliance going. Just about all that's left to do is to finish them off once and for all. And that will just be a big battle, or maybe converting them with the "no need to feed" drug. After that happens, then what? What will Atlantis have to do?
Those borg dudes were in like an alternate reality or parallel universe or some shit, I don't see them becoming a factor.

There isn't much left to do, which is probably why this is the last season of Atlantis. After season 5, there will be two direct to TV movies then that's it.

Yea they where but that doesnt mean they dont exist in their universe :D and im sure they can come up with something I mean at one point SG-1 was all about the Goa'uld.
Oh also dont forget Michael hes still out there somewhere!

Oh dude, the suck is only just beginning. They're starting a new show called Stargate: Universe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargate_universe) where a team of humans gets trapped on an ancient ship whose purpose was to follow another ship that went around putting stargates in place.
Also, here's a link to the end of atlantis: http://www.multichannel.com/article/CA6589329.html

Wow that is lame... Wasnt there a cartoon called that a while back? I dont really remember watching any of the episodes as it was a cartoon.
I hope this will be one hell of a season. SG-1 ended pretty badly but I can give a 99.9% chance the last episode will say "to be continued" in other words get ready to buy the movie haha!

They destroyed there planet commiting mass suicide to stop their technology getting taken by the Ori.
They also destroyed their world because their race was coming at an end. And I tend to wonder if that even happened, as that episode was a time dilation episode, which at the end reverted back before that all happened. Not sure if it was before the world exploded or after.
This is the episode where Dr. Jackson and Claudia Black's (Vera?) character end up with the rest of the crew in a time dialation which pretty much make the universe outside a stand still.

I did mention they where dieng in a earlier post, The dialation field was after the planet blew up SG-1 where escaping in a ship with the Asgard technology they where tracked by the Ori because of that.
The Ori caught them and fired at the ship Carter put the field up and it took her 50 years to find a way to leave the dialation but one of them would have to remain old so Teal'c took one for the team seing as he lives for longer anyway.

Certainly is an interesting development.
Which helps to explain how Stargate Worlds is planning on having Asgard in the game once it progresses past Unending.

It doesn't really though, because the faction in this episode (just watched it) was completely different, as they were prepared to sacrifice human lives for their own cause.

I fear that Stargate Universe will suck, if you read the planned characters and main plot, it feels like Beverly Hills 90120 in space.

Either way they are Asgard and I have mixed ideas that they could either be seriously pissed and attack Atlantis or end up working together to take down the Wraith they still have the same goal.

Maybe, but it seems like thier better set up to concentrate on the ship to ship action, and not the 'earth clone planet, ancient civilization clone people' habit of the other shows. I've seen enough trees.

Good point look when the Ori where around that was the most ship action yet... and even that sucked.

That's because the entire concept of the Ori sucked. Evil super beings who gain power inexplicably through being worshiped...but SG1 is still adamant they're not gods. Does any fucking one of them actually own a dictionary?
It was the DragonBall syndrome. Kill one all powerful dude, and you have to get an even more all powerful dude for the next time and so on.
I'll admit though, seeing Morenna Baccarin in action again was oh so very nice, and those golden eyes were strangely arousing.
...and what's with the fucking ships?, I understand they had the clear advantage in technology but there was so much un-utilized combat effectiveness in thier design. A single axial super weapon and seemingly exposed power core? Those things must have something like 12% weapon coverage or less....which makes you wonder why everyone who decided to get in thier way always felt the need to rush them head on. Stick on thier tail pipe, you fucking morons.

SG1 just basically rule out religion as a load of bs and therefor there is no GODS.
