Shadowbane?

hey just thinking of trying shadowbane out just for shits and giggles till df comes out. Can i get opinions from ppl who've played it?

First thing to do : create 3 accounts, and search for a guild.

There are plenty of useless/broken skills for each class,and making the right template is literally the difference between being useless and being deadly. There is little room for statistical error.

2: Apply to join a guild on the forums before you even begin. They will provide you with easily duped gear,money and vital 'skill runes'. You will NOT be able to find a decent guild by asking in-game; it must be done before. And Shadowbane is NOT a solo game by any means whatsoever.

3: PvE? Forget it. You only fight monsters to grind money/skill runes. 99% of Shadowbane is all about PvP and seiges (or as they call them,'banes').

4: Forumbane is as important as the game itself.

5: Bug Protonix for more info! :D

6: Shadowbane is full of alt-botting,duping and general exploiting. Be prepared.

thanks alot, ive been chafing over here without darkfall and cant stand playing most of the trash thats out there. Thinking of starting a warrior shade... is there any major prob with that so far? also jumping on the forums over there to find a guild

I haven't played SB in years but this sounds good.

I remember SB as having mediocre graphics and being fairly buggy. There really isn't anything fun or interesting about the game in terms of PvE. It's all about PvP and in game politics.

Sounds like a tough deal to break back into, but if you can do that and make a name for yourself, then my guess is you'll probably feel like a god among insects in any PvP-centric MMO you play afterwards.

A whole part of finding a guild is... sortng what char you need to build. shade warrior is not one of them IMO . if you want to start a toon , try a HG barb or something like that.

once you get a guild roll a Cent Druid and a Dwarf prelate you will be loved once you have them ( you will know what i mean within two weeks of playing) or once you have them leveled and spec'd

yup all int elf is good, but con/int/ LA cent is better, the explooit is gone so either you need to be active or have a decent con cuild or a sentinal.

You can hit lvl 50 in one sitting if you have a couple druids pl you.

IF you play shadowbane long enough, you will learn skills that will give you a huge advantage in DF.

Doing mines/banes with good guilds in vent calling targets and staying on target, is a skill. Sure, in DF things will be a bit different with targeting but the fact remains.

I just started again with my mate tonight, not really focusing on builds atm, went for something on a whim, a Shade Necromancer, just enjoying it so far and teaching him what its like, will be going into more detail on builds later on.

but you WILL need a guild, and there is a lot to learn

go Thurin...find someone in Dragonscale, tell them you are brand new...and that their Doctor sent you...they are n00b friendly, and a solid place to get levels and gear

find a real guild after you get some builds you like....remember you can have a fully leveled toon in just a few days with minimum *work*

make sure any guild you look at has vent and at least 3 groups of actives

be prepared to get slaughtered...frequently

if you get past it, you will do some killing...the real Fun are mines and banes

I had a blast in SB. Been a couple years I think, but I played from beta on and had a great time up til it became free (w/e that was). Found that the populations were too low to even form a full group - but if that has changed, than I might get back on someday.

GL with it though, if you are passing time, I'm sure it'll be enjoyable.

Not anymore from what I heard...they make you speak to a bunch of people and show them screenshots of proof that your not with CN or whatever it is they did. It's a shame many people would PL real fast with their groups.

One thing that kinda annoyed me about SB aside form the lack of WASD, draw distance, track. Is how restrictive the forums are, heck some of you guys take forumfall for granted but man SB mods went on such a closing/delete rampage spree after reboot. Plus pretty much every fucking thread they have, they got some mod who deleted a whole section of the persons post for saying something that mattered, heck even talking about other games even in reference to experience they remove it.

From what I read Thurin seems to have CN only at SDR. They have CN so pist that every time there's a bane. 3-4 FG of CN come and crash the bane and both sides drop what they are doing and fight them off. Malog that place is infested oddly enough some US/EU guilds are still there causing trouble for CN. Saedron seems to be dead barely anyone there.

Still what you said is a sad truth. I'm surprised that there's no regional ban or anything. Yes I'm aware Ubisoft doesn't give a flying fuck about a free MMO. But I'm sure every company dislikes seeing people attack their servers with hacks and DDoS etc.etc.

SB is worth a look if you've never experienced large scale PvP.

The game is balanced by retarded monkies with their heads up their ass though. I wouldn't recommend going back to most vets. It will just ruin your memories.

If you're just starting out you should probably go with something easy mode, like a high con Half-Giant Templar. You can get 11k hps and still do good damage with melee. What spells you can fit depends on if you go with a class weapon, or a normal melee weapon. It's a very forgiving build, that will give you experience with melee, weapon powers, and spells.

1. Everyone is cheating my using macros in it.
2. Way too many asian named players and guilds and too much of the language in chat. Practically all of it.
3. Your finger is going to hurt like hell if your mouse is old OR you don't cheat with macros.
4. You have to be in a guild to do anything and use vent it seems and if you are you will be told to get at least one character to their specifications and play it with them.
5. It's still unstable like shit and hogs wast resources while giving crappy graphics and framerates.
