Well, you really think that will make people stop to create polls on "romantic relationships with familiars" or "having fishes in a fishtank" within a house etc?

I hope it does but i guess it won't since the simple 2 step procedure

1) Switch brain on.
2) Now post.

It seems they are leaning toward no pets. The more NPC's in the world the more lag. You ever play AoC with 3 necro's in your party?......

If you mean you wont have Pets in DF that will fight for you then you are correct, NO PETS.

No pets, but i heard that they will let the necromancer summon monsters.

So if you like pets, make a necro.

What’s the status on taming?

There are no pets and no taming. Our goal was to move Darkfall as far away as possible from MMOG half-measures like instancing, zoning, use of NPCs where you can use players, various automations etc. So taming falls into that category in a way, on the other hand we give you mounts you can use in combat, which you can control to attack while you’re riding them. The functionality is there, we just don't feel that pets would add much to the game as it is.

Just FYI - My thread is no longer about 'pets' it's just for farms and an addition to the farming profession. Strictly a new way of resources by having a farm. Not pets. So stop saying "pets suck blah bah".

this is 100% false. think of every game you've ever played with necros, only a small handful of their spells are ever summoning. those other spells are what you will have. necromancy is simply communicating with the spirits of the dead, you dont have to be raising it.

NPC hirelings will hopefully be in, since they are not really pets, more like farmers/collectors with some combat ability. A pet is purely combat orientated.

As I have stated in many threads, I hope they'll be in. It won't be hard to balance it out if they cost a moderate amount, and have to be fully equipped by the player. That'll cut down on people who use them in battles. Of course when they are out collecting and get ambushed they should have some self-defense ability...

hmm so what happens when you unmount your horse? Does it disapear in your pocket and can be looted when you're killed?

and if you're thrown off your mount, does it go to your pocket too?

No idea what happens if you manually get of your mount. However, if there is a mount figurine in your inventory, it can be looted by other players when you die.

If you get knocked off your mount, it will stay in the area for a while, and anyone can hop onto it and steal it. If no one rides it for a while, it will eventually die.

A necro without magic to summon is a necro without magic to summon. Summoning undead minions is only a SMALL part of the arsenal of skills a necro has. THERE WILL BE NO PETS IN DARKFALL. End of story. Necros will NOT be able to summon undead minions. Stop making useless +1 posts and confusing the new users.
