I fired up an old machine in my closet, and realized Hellcrash:Fuckup was on it. Fired it up - patched for 45 minutes while drinking -

And omg there are people playing it still.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Man that game is awesomely dynamic, I don't know why I ever stopped playing it. :confused:

Beta tested Hellgate: London for a long time. The developers were simply in love with their concept art / theme. Despite the cries for change or variation, the studio wasn't willing to mix it up. As we can see, the Hellgate is incredibly boring and repetitive as a result of this stubbornness.

Lesson for all development studios: listen to your player base and especially listen to your beta testers.

RuneScape is/was a good example of this too. They lose like 10k players with every update.
