Hey Everyone,

Well I just finished building my comp and found out the P5Q3 Deluxe board has more squerly memory / voltage issues then my ex gf , sooo moving on I will be swapping out the board tommorow but I can't make my mind up between two boards. Both boards seem to be pretty stable compaired to the flacky pos I have in the system atm:

Asus Maximus Extreme

or

eVGA nForce 790i Ultra

Both boards are very simular however I have a Nvidia 8800 GTX currently and not a ATI card for the crossfire capabilities of the asus, however I don't ever plan on buying 2 video cards to SLI or cross fire anytime soon, so any help would be greatly appricated because i'm totaly divided on the boards.

If you don't want SLI, don't get an Nvidia chipset. Intel chipsets are better (Run cooler, more stable) for less money. That's the general consensus. Although I can't help you pick a specific motherboard because I'm an AMD guy.

I can tell you that, unless you're planning to overclock, such high-end motherboards are overkill.

You have no plans on going SLI, yet want to spend a load of cash for a board that really doesn't do anything better than cheaper boards except SLI?

I agree with what they've said so far. If you don't want to SLI or Crossfire at any point in the future (which IMO is foolish since you can milk another year or two out of a gaming rig for about $100 that way, but it's your call) and don't want to OC either, don't bother with a high end mobo. Don't get some cheap piece of shit either, but you really shouldn't need to spend more than about $90-$110 on a mobo for normal stuff.
