Eighties nostalgia is right about 'on schedule'. I suspect that as people who spent their youth in the eighties are now entering the ambiguous period of adulthood between relative youth and middle age, they are glancing winsomely back at their childhood and adolescence. I imagine that nostalgia for the nineties will enter full force some time in the middle of the next decade.

I wish that there would be nostalgia for the 1780s or 1880s, then we could all wear cocked hats or top hats again without looking too anachronistic or very silly.

Ok so I was out at the mall this weekend with my wife and I was shocked to learn that the 1980's have returned in full force. I saw stretchpants, those gay vests MJ Fox wore in back to the future, tight rolled jeans...when the fuck and why did this happen?

The 1980's were a goddamned travesty the first time and I really don't want to live through them again...

Just as a reminder the 1980's gave us Madonna, Michael Jackson, Soiviet Summer Olympics, Cool Runnings, Chernobyl, oil embargos, the War on Drugs, Hair Bands, The Fresh Prince, Mt Saint Helens Erupting, this getup (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:VPL_Visible_Panty_Line_3.jpg), fucking topgun and aviators, neon track suits...fuck this I am going into stasis for the next three years...I figure we will be on the 90's by then and I should be able to deal with white guess jeans once more...

I noticed that too. It seems certain trends are becoming a cycle. In my opinion, 90s and early part of this decade had a lot common with the late 60s and 70s. Now I've noticed a lot of 80s trends coming back. Lot's of tight jeans and colors (yellow, purple, green, red, etc, all the 80s fluorescent shit). I personally don't mind it, since it all has modern touch to it and it works with my clothing business plans.

Personally I hate 80s style, at least the actual 80s trends. Only thing I liked about it was the club scene. Nasty and I can relate to that, rest was horribly annoying. Especially the haircuts.
