The game is being conducted by a non-profit think tank. The game only lasts six weeks.

To play the game you need to assess five threats to humanity and write about how you would react to them and how you think others would react to these threats.

The five categorized 'superthreats' that players will deal with are: pandemic disease (Quarantine) (http://www.superstructgame.org/quarantine.html), collapse of the global food system (Ravenous) (http://www.superstructgame.org/ravenous.html), a world divided by its alternative energy technologies (Power Struggle) (http://www.superstructgame.org/power_struggle.html), dystopian scenarios where the escalation of cyber crime is compounded by privacy-nullifying surveillance technology (Outlaw Planet) (http://www.superstructgame.org/outlaw_planet.html), and the diaspora of refugees fleeing climate change and war (Generation Exile). (http://www.superstructgame.org/gen_exile.html)

In addition you must link your conversation to this wiki page (http://superstruct.wikia.com/wiki/Related_Links) to ease the data gathering.

The objective of the game is to create an atmosphere where constructive dialogue can be made about predicting future events and then compare how the world actually responds to these threats (if they do manifest) with how the players collectively predict the world will react.

The idea itself is an extension of proving game theory works and can be leveraged to prepare ourselves for problems we wouldn't have been prepared for because of a lack of foresight.

A more indepth summary of the game can be found here. (http://www.iftf.org/node/2302)

You don't need a game to predict and solve problems of the future. Just refer policy makers to Forumfall.

Sounds cool.

I think I'll roll an elf druid.

I don't see how this is a problem since most of the people on here believe that FEMA death camps are going to wipe us out in the near future.

Is our government that strapped for help on how to handle future crisis that they need the public's help for once?

No, they want to see which crisis will be most difficult for the public to have a solution to, then implement said crisis.

Hmm. From what I can tell their perspective is that any form of human organization that exists now family units, governments, corporations, think-tanks, forums, etc. might be inefficient at handling future problems. You shouldn't look at as one group asking help from another but more like we are all responsible and should think of new ways to reorganize ourselves to address potential threats.

No, they want to see which crisis will be most difficult for the public to have a solution to, then implement said crisis.

Well that's another facetious or cynical way of looking at it ;)
